What’s so cool is the way Steve always points to the talent of other great guitar players instead of building himself up even though he’s one of the greats. He just loves great music and appreciates other artists and what they do. Love this guy.

Steve Lukather is so talented that he can complement any style. Toto may have been "Progressive" kind of, but really, the music had 60s Soul, R&B, Jazz, and some Hard Rock. His guitar style always went where he directed it - I suppose from his years as studio session man, where you better be able to deliver the goods, whether it's Big Band or straight rock, etc.

this man, steve, is so modest, i mean his playing is amazing, and he is still going strong, this covid shit has hurt so many people in the industry, steve is so under rated, he has a creativity and instinct that few players have, when you party with eddie our late guitar god, those great talents just seemed to flow with these guys, steve is one of the very best players around, think of vai, holdsworth, lynch, malmsteem, eric johnson, steve is an amazing guy and so very laid back, we love luke, steve if you see this? we love you man, i am sure once we all get unlocked the best is yet to come,...............

Luke, you are a primary reason why guitar culture started to focus on space, not playing, focused lines. The terms “it’s what you don’t play”, “listen”. It’s not about the chop trophy or the waves in the ocean that never settle. Any cat who goes back and listens to the catalog by the record, EVH would say to any new kid - go listen to Steve. You brought some shredders to Steely Dan and Carlton. And I had to learn to play the 3rd harmony linear to Rosanna to prove to myself I could play a solo that was in the leagues of Charlemagne in under 6 measures.

@fulltonesmusic
@fulltonesmusic 2 жыл бұрын
The volume would depend on the setting… for outdoor venues, the wet signal could be much louder because of lack of natural acoustics & reverb, whereas for indoor venues, the wet signal was brought down based on the acoustics of each room… the more cavernous & echoey the room, the less you would want those effects in the house… otherwise you end up with a whole lot of wash & no punch/definition in the guitars

Gary’s Rock/hard rock era 1982 - 1989 is phenomenal. He’s such a great story teller and songs like Murder In The Skies was a true story about how the Russians deliberately shot down a Korean jet killing everyone on board. Jeff Beck was impressed by him and he was George Harrison’s favourite player.
