When my parents first rented this movie, as far as I was concerned, THIS was the entire film. My brother and I must have rewatched these two scenes 50 times in 2 days.

Amazing! Still one of my favorite scenes (collection of scenes) of any movie of all time! I Saw this in the movie theater and to this day still occasionally think of the glove/lubrication seen when I see dishwashing gloves… And sometimes when I'm driving up to Oklahoma to go to the casino I think or say out loud, "OOOOOOOKLAAAHOMA Oklahoma Oklahoma Oklahoma Oklahomaaaa!! Sometimes to my mother I say "mother?… Not mother?" In Steve Martin's voice as Ruprect!

Before he became Darth Sidious, aka The Emperor, aka Senator Palpatine, he was known as the Butler.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Return of the Jedi was made in 1983. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was made in 1988.

Correct, Ian McDiarmid played The Emperor in Jedi in 83 but his actual back-story and how he became known as "The Emperor" was more predominant in the 2nd trilogy, episodes 1,2 & 3.

I always laugh when Ian McDiarmid says "Oh shut up" to Freddie near the end of the film. Also, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has another Star Wars connection. It was directed by Frank Oz who voiced and performed Yoda.

Special shout out to Meagan Fay, whose acting within this scene is (like everyone else in this brilliant film) WAY OFF THE CHARTS. Thanx Meagan! The same holds true for Francis Conroy.

Thanks for mentioning her. Was fascinated by her performance while watching this video. Very rich in how she adored this man, was thrilled to think there would be a second prince, then gradually became horrified upon discovery of Ruprecht.
