I watched this with my mom a few years ago. She is close to 80 and this scene and the dinner scene had her laughing so hard. She couldn’t even speak from laughing so hard. Truly a classic!!!

Whenever at a gathering for dinner as a teen, I would randomly put on my "Ruprecht face" and stare at my younger brother until we made eye contact. Then I'd deadpan "Not mother?" exactly like Martin here and we'd both completely lose our shit.

I had not seen the movie in a long time. It pops up on tv sometimes. The musical played in dublin at the bord gais energy theatre. I am not fan of the constant need to turn every 1980s film into a musical.

The ambience before she meets Rupprecht is a master class in comedy. Michael Caine closing the gate behind him, and the banging pot noise getting louder as they approach his cell makes me laugh harder now in my later years than anything else.

Pure Genius! This movie and Blind Date. Under rated comedies! We had just moved in with my Mom after selling our home in 06. My Mom, brother, his girlfriend, husband and myself were all sick at the same time. We watched Blind Date and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels We were all laying on couches and chairs. 2 movies that the whole family could enjoy. It took us hours to get through both of them. We were laughing and coughing. Looking back it was a perfect day. 😂🤧🤒

Thank you. My dog would grab papers on the table while making eye contact and you say, "noooo"... and then she'd throw them on the floor if you didn't get up when she wanted something. It reminded me of when Ruprecht starts tipping the pots off shelf.

That's around the same time I saw it for the first time when my Dad rented it for me when I was very sick. This scene in particular was one of the funniest scenes I had ever seen at the point, but none of my friend's had seen it which made it difficult to reference with them. Glad to hear she has a friend to enjoy it with.

The Hustle was so painful to watch. Anne Hathaway & Rebel Wilson have zero chemistry and limited comedic abilities. Michael Cain, Steve Martin, and the late Glenne Headly were a once in a lifetime ensemble.

Many thanks for posting this clip. DRS was on Sky recently and so I recorded it. I had already seen it many years ago and loved it - especially this part. So, after watching the whole film again, I watched this part over and over again - wetting myself every time (not literally). Sad to say, the recording was deleted. Now that I have downloaded this clip, I can wet myself many, many more times. 'Scuse me. May I go to the bathroom first? ............................. Thank you.'

Amazing! Still one of my favorite scenes (collection of scenes) of any movie of all time! I Saw this in the movie theater and to this day still occasionally think of the glove/lubrication seen when I see dishwashing gloves… And sometimes when I'm driving up to Oklahoma to go to the casino I think or say out loud, "OOOOOOOKLAAAHOMA Oklahoma Oklahoma Oklahoma Oklahomaaaa!! Correct, Ian McDiarmid played The Emperor in Jedi in 83 but his actual back-story and how he became known as "The Emperor" was more predominant in the 2nd trilogy, episodes 1,2 & 3.
