Anything’s possible. I was off the shits too. 8 ball a day mixed with various pills and acid. Never liked meth only tried it twice. Have od twice and have wrecked while on multiple drugs. I’ve seen the grim reaper multiple times but still here. Life’s a trip. Was told relapse is inevitable in a rehab center so hopefully stays clean for the rest of his days.

It was actually a really, really common parenting tactic 70's and before. My mother in law was given wisely as a baby to help with her teething. She was never an addict.

In the old days it was common to put a few drops of alcohol into a baby’s milk bottle to soothe them. Thankfully, parents don’t do this anymore ( I hope so 😂 ).

I had alcohol as a baby. Whiskey for teething pain. Then whenever we’d have a family event the kids were allowed an alcoholic drink. I’ve never had a drink problem and I don’t drink any alcohol as an adult because it doesn’t interest me in the slightest. It’s not all down to early exposure and more to do with things like trauma and self medication. There’s hope for everyone:)

His honesty is saving lives right now, that’s what I need to hear to keep me clean and in recovery. Thank you, Steve-O for reminding me how I got liver disease bc I was so into my addiction, I didn’t care what my partner had, I was going to lose myself to get/keep my drugs and my man. Neither of which I really wanted. I called him my boyfriend and my drug my boyfriend. Thank god I don’t and we don’t have to live like that anymore.

@@cassity2029 We have made it that way though. Society has caused people to hide their flaws in order to fit in better. The problem is that no one is without faults. People have just gotten better at hiding them. We need to change that and start embracing the flaws and helping each other overcome them. We are only as strong as our support system. The problem is that the people who appear weaker are the ones that need a stronger support system in place, but those are the people we usually give up on first.

Sure, money can not buy happiness, but it can help you get a lot of help from a lot of people and deal with issues that you otherwise (without money) would not be able to deal with. @wong way. It's something only an addict/alcoholic can understand; how, once we get sober, we can discuss our horrible experiences with laughter in our voices. It's not that it's actually funny, it's more that we're in amused awe & shock of the lengths we went through to get messed up. Kind of a "laugh to keep from crying"/exasperated "how am I alive" thing. It's not everyone's experience, but I've found a lot of us develop that dark sense of humor as a coping mechanism while we're using, & it sticks with us once we come to terms with how our lives used to be.

I'm an opiate addict in recovery myself, and just passed 4 years clean, it's still harder than you think to not get the idea of "I'm cured now, I can do drugs again and they won't fuck up my life!" Ironically they fuck up your life faster then the last time. Don't get me wrong I am GLAD he's sober now, but it's a life long battle to stay clean and sober and we can't let our guards down for even a second cause this disease will find a way to worm itself back into your body...

No offense, but I think you have a worse understanding of addiction than I do. I drank heavily for years, self-medicating my bipolar, now that I'm getting more stable, it looks like I'm not actually an alcoholic, though I am DEFINITELY STILL WARY OF IT. Why don't you take some courses, become a counselor? You'll have a better understanding of addiction, and maybe be able to help others effectively. Its wjat I plan to do. I went through a hellish, out-of-control couple of decades, and I would love to make at least some small positive difference in the lives of people like me.

hey just wanna say I reaaally hope youre doing well now, but even if not you said you are proud of what you have achieved. Even if you have relapsed - you have proven that youre capable of it. If you have lapsed -and I hope that you havent - next time you will go even longer because youre in training and you have PROVEN you can do it,

You gotta love how detailed Steve-O tells his stories. A lot of reality celebrities/musicians from the 90’s-2000’s always shorten paragraphs worth’s of stories into as many worth’s of sentences.

Iv been drinking and doing drugs for most of my life! It is fairly easy to get sober! But extremely difficult to stay sober! Much respect and love to Steve o for being so open and honest about things most people would never have the balls to share!
