You can actually buffer FF2 after hitting the Sonic Fang Heat Dash! It works with Xiaoyu! FF2 deals 2 more damage compared to DB2.

still dude..it's nothing compared to other characters..and considering Steve is a characters with no standing launchers..It is a huge deal for him IDK why they nerfed his sonic fang launch..they could've reduced the damage

​@@mwkan772 I havent had time to play for weeks now, but is it possible that the frame advantage on hit is lowered so that people can attempt to get up faster and then run into setups? Like sideroll getup could lead to steve doing sidestep df2,duck / uf2 / another sonicfang or something?

@@mwkan772 it's kind of the archetype of the character and while it is a nerf, the meta is also in it's infancy still and I don't think its a big enough detriment to the character to affect his overall usability. tbh, 1.05 is great for steve, but I think the amount of changes to both system and characters have been too much too fast. It's necessary to keep the player base engaged, but I don't think it's good for the game overall. I don't know if anybody remembers UMVC3, and the "balance" changes they implemented because of player feedback, but the meta evolved and those changes cause way more imbalance than balance. Steve has a lot of tools that people aren't used to. for example 3 1 2 and 4 1 2 are delayable, hit confirmable, evasive mid high string that's plus on block and hit, with a counter hit delayed mid option for full launch that's safe on block. WS 2 2, f21 and f22 are also extremely delayable get in tools that can swing momentum easily on hit or block since you get access to LH, PKB or FLK for F21. Sure, we don't have CH WS 2 or CH 4 1 2 as easier CH launches, but the overall utility of those moves have gone up with tekken 8

They nerfed many heat engagers like that, not only for Steve and damage scaling is lower for follow-up. Before 1.05 ff2 did only 1Hp less than PKB d2. To be fair Sonic Fang is an OP AF move. If that shit would launch it would be insane and put Steve straight into the top 5.

I wish they kept the special launching sonic fang from his old rage drive 2 where he could launch on normal hit into a duck, but ONLY during heat.

Man, if you think Drag's B4,3 is insane in heat, Law literally has Heihachi's RD, doesn't have crazy damage, but he also pairs that with a low crushing heat launcher and a 14 frame high crushing heat launcher.

How much did the old follow up used to do? Do you know why they did This? I guess there was some characters with broken stuff like Paul's ff3,4 and Leo's ws1,4 combo that would continue the combo as normal even if you did burst+engager, so as always they just lazely solved everything like this instead of individually fixing the moves.

I remember it used to do like 53 damage because pkb d2 had 100% scaling and is guaranteed.

i think its a non intended nerf for steve. they tried nerfing the system a little bit and steve got hit too hard by it

The thing is though. Not every character needs to be heat depended or high combo dependent. Steve wasnt in an amazing spot but was ok and is much better now. This change wont really affect him or his strength

I get that it sucks for Steve but why are we looking at other characters heat dashes in a vacuum? Sonic fang is a guaranteed heat dash on block if it even connects while drag only gets this combo on hit assuming it even hits and doesn’t get blocked, where the opponent can duck it and full launch it. The two moves are completely different. There is higher risk reward for drag b4,3 than Steve has for sonic fang which is low risk lower reward given its hit properties.

@@arsalrana9568 which is fair. Alisa feng and xiaoyu getting legit nothing serious is egregious. But it is season 1 and with a game like tekken I can’t expect them to get everything done perfectly the first season. I just wish more characters got changes that were meaningful like drag. He is legit in a perfect spot rn. Good pressure, high damage, but beatable and with the system changes he is no longer a top 3 BS spamming douche.

@@arsalrana9568 100% agree. Hopefully we get a good sense of things once the dlc finishes and season 1 is in full swing. I think then everything will feel more familiar and better ig, but god I’m gonna hate fighting waifu characters until they get patched 💀

Didn't they change the frames during heat dash? I'm trying to think why they would nerf pabd2 in this situation. I noticed while playing yesterday, bit gutted. Jin got the same treatment with his ff4 out of heat dash. Either way that's a chunk of damage lost for Steve, but I'm not sure it was intentional.

@@Mackievellian it's a Lee/Law nerf that accidentally affected Steve like always Lee after 3 of his heat engager dash (b3+4, 44:4, df44) give him a free HMS u4 into ub3 for 50-60+ damage and they're the kind of heat dash that only knockdown. Same for Law the kind that knockdown he get a free jump stomp into big oki that guarantee 1+2 if opponent dont stand up fair to say these guys did way too much damage for a dash that didnt even launch so they had to nerfed the knockdown and scaling to balance it. knockdown change so slow move can be tech roll and scaling so combos dont do too much and Just like Strong Aerial Spin nerf they didn't consider how much Steve needed those so the same thing happened here. They didnt consider how important 1+2 dash into PAB d2 was to steve

I think this affects high level Steve mains way more than low level ones. Im a casual player and every Steve Ive went up against hardly ever used Sonic Fang.

Requested Steve buffs for final version. 1. Lionhart in heat auto parry mids and highs. Without heat, just mids. 2. CH df+2 auto transition into Two Faced 3. PAB d+2 i22 4. Give Steve D+2 feint back.

Feels like the free ground hits only vs neutral Heat Dashes reactions should be unified at this rate - they did it with downward hitting ones (such as Lars CH 1,1,1) so why stop there.

when other character has i14 heat dash launcher, I'm not complaining before. cause at least there's some follow up PAB D2 for some damage. but now I'm complaining about that, i mean just make it launch like other character. it's not gonna be OP or something considering every character has i14 heat dash launcher. also B3 2 a.k.a snake charmer is more useless than previous game. like it's not for punishing some high move but more like catching opponent stepping forward.

I think that Steve's 1+2 should launch during heat. Considering that Jin, Drag, DVJ and etc had this type of attack, this wouldn't be broken or op. Also, it would remind a Steve's RD in T7, that's great too.

i think in t8 they are really trying to avoid steve launching with fast moves from neutral and keeping the ch identity of the character intact. even b2 is no longer a launcher.. (i dont disagree with that mindset though, giving steve good launchers will break the character imo)

@Sicknificant1 DVJ b2,3 - it's i14 punisher, that launches during heat And Steve's 1+2 is 14 frames fast as well, but it gave only a grounded follow

@tehutehu451 Yes, you're right. That's a very different characters. But Steve's 1+2 buff is not dictated only by this. Opportunity to block/wiff punish once per round by using all your heat gauge doesn't sounds bad for me. It would give to Steve ability to punish properly and I think that it's good and interesting. Also it wouldn't break his identity, just quality of life stuff

Same, but I have a feeling they will make more of his other moves have buffs because if his 1+2 becomes a launcher, it will overshadow many of his other launchers, leading to an inevitable nerf.... I'm gonna leave it to hope and a functional brain to see what cooks after some good time. 💯🔥

@@_slyph right, but in t8 everyone had comeback potential with heat, it’s healing, on demand plus frames, and chip that also heals any gray health you have. Not to mention Steve has good damage in this game and a good heat smash that also does a good chunk of damage.
