I used to think my perfectionism was the only reason I struggled to listen to my recordings too, Mr. Smith Sr. Hello Mr. Sharpe and Mr. Smith Sr. I have immeasurable respect for the way you've both inspired me as an athlete and a man. I don't know that you'll ever read this. But, when I heard you both speak about speech challenges, I connected with you. I still have words I cannot pronounce right to this day and have been doing public speaking in some way since I was 14ys old. Part of the challenge in listening back to our recordings is a psychological phenomenon I'm sure you both know called "cognitive dissonance." Not just the insecurities of society judging us for messing up words (something I still do regularly on shows). And this is because when we talk, we hear our voice from outside AND from inside our heads. It has a different sound than what everyone else only hears outside. When you hear the recording, your mind tells you that the "you" that's talking isn't "you" because it sounds weird. I found that was making me cringe more than the fear of people judgment me. It was my own perfectionism judging me. The solution is the same process you guys followed playing the game. Reps. If you listened to all your shows on repeat for 3hrs, the voice you hear on the recording will eventually blend with the voice you hear inside your head. The cognitive dissonance will eventually go away and it may become much easier to listen and evaluate yourself going forward. I learned this on accident during my years as a musician listening back to my recordings with bands so I could improve my act. TLDR: You will eventually get used to the voice you are hearing. And, the cringe you are feeling will go away if you go hard listening to a ton of your own works. I hope this works for you guys like it worked for me. If not, just please be blessed knowing you both have blessed another man greatly.

Not having my dad in my life made me a better dad. Due to not having a father figure in the house as a kid I always told myself that my child will know what love is.I’m gonna always be there for them, they will always matter and they can come to me about anything their voice will be heard.

I feel this on so many levels. I thought, still think the same exact way. I just knew it would help me be a better father. That no matter how bad things get, they know that I will always be there for them. Sometimes kids just need a stable, steady voice. It goes a long way. Respect to you brother!

Absolutely love 84 and Steve a ton, Steve did something more impressive than any other receiver I can think of because he was a clear number 1 with his size and he played as hard as anyone every has at the position. If he was 6'1 he would have been the most successful wR ever I truly believe that.. I just don't want Shannon crushing me cowboys anymore

Steve Smith you are the epitome of A MAN. Such a brave, hard working, honest, unflinching, and empathetic individual. Definition of strong enough to destroy you but wise enough to diffuse you now.

I love your very sound and practical advise and comments. And I love your intro music; it applies to just about every urban male/female I have ever met. Thank you for everything that you do! I dont even care for football talk but I listen to you and Skip go back and forth for the very sound and practical life outtakes, approaches and common sense on life outside of my perspective . Im gonna make my daughter start watching all your shows to help her get rid of foolish thoughts for better decision making. Keep on keeping on Shannan, I love it

@@txmade4371 you said what? Steve Smith is 100% a HoFer. I've been a Saints fan since I could follow football (90s) so it pains me to give any kudos to the Panthers but, the numbers don't lie.
