I decided that after I won this Custom RG30 from Ibanez, the first song I was going to do was "For The Love of God" by Steve Vai.
Steve Vai has always been an inspiration to my guitar player, I wanted to recreate the song and give it my own twists. This is not meant to be an exact cover of For The Love Of God, But rather my interpretation.

4:26 he didn’t just cover the guitar’s finger movements. He also covered exactly the same hair movement at the same place as the original Vai’s video. Well done 😂

Stumbled onto this as I'm pulling the trigger on a new J. Custom Ibby, and I'm not ashamed to admit that this literally brought tears to my eyes Zach. It takes me back to the first time I heard this song after standing in line to get the cassette tape in '90..I cried then too. The notes can be "learned" if someone dedicates the time, but capturing the emotion isn't in my opinion something just anyone can do, and you did it superbly!! BRAVO SIR

This piece has so many places to screw up. It's a minefield of moments where if you slide wrong, you hit a note a half-step flat, and then you gotta start over again. The notes you'll get WRONG on "For the Love of God" are not in the faster, picked, or arpeggiated passages. That's what most players don't understand. Steve Vai's signature work is marked by dozens of seemingly-easy, yet frustratingly-difficult to hit "grace notes," slides, and improved asides. Zach boldly steps out with this as his first entry into the professionally-produced video showcases. It's a testament to Zach's ability to play hard, fast, technical lines, along with a soft touch and ability to capture the emotional essence of what came from another man's fingers.

I can really appreciate the work done to get this song nailed. Would I say its perfect for the cover , no. However what it is , its perfect for Zach. Its almost exactly the same. A few bends a tad higher , a few very small moments of artistic improvisation and Zach comes up with a 99.8 percent version of the cover. That other .2 percent is all Zach and honestly , I love it equally the same as Vai's. Its inspiring to see such a gorgeous piece of art , in the hand of a true artist. Kudos to you Zach.....
