63 now, Im glad I lived in a time and to have been blessed with the best musicians and music ever in history. They were hit songs coming out almost every day , many new songs playing on the radio every week. It was like Christmas and my Birthday every day. What a glorious time to be alive.

i swear to god imma tell yall one thing rite now im 51 i had heard and favorited this song in my head didnt know the lyrics only speculation thought at first it was peter gabriel then gary wright voice but thank god we got google i hummed it out and it arrived This was a 1970 song i was born in 72 i missed all the good music This Was Real Music Brothers and Sisters!

Empty Pages is still one of the grooviest, tightest, happiest songs of all time ❤released 4 months before I was born. Steve Winwood and Traffic were among the best in progressive rock. I still listen to the John Barleycorn album often.

In 1969 there was Blind Faith and those songs that they did was a reflection of a time coming to an end for the fan and listener to say farewell to a decade, but then Steve returned to Traffic and 1970 began a new era. This song was like watching the dawn of a new beginning come to life , as if from night brought the promise of a new day. Blind Faith embraced a spirit in all that 1969 was , and John Barleycorn Must Die embraced the spirit of what 1970 was to be !

It was like 1969 took something when it left, and 1970 replaced the void that was left behind and these songs of Blind Faith in 1969 and 1970 Traffic carried us through.

Great performance, of course. As a matter of interest, Blood Sweat and Tears (non-David Clayton-Thomas) did an excellent cover of this song on their "No Sweat" album in the mid-1970s.

Yes, I had to double check, he is singing, soloing on the Hammond organ, and laying down the bass line on the foot pedals.
