A truly fascinating interview and equally shocking insight into the corruption of the British legal, penal system and ultimately, the government. Thank you for sharing Alan's story.

Don't think the average person in jail realises how much they have to thank Alan and his fellow rioters for!!!! Prisons had hardly changed from the victorian times, especially the local ones Telephones, TVs,games consoles, spending private cash and lots more was unheard-of pre strangeways riots Thank you Alan&co

Forgot probably the most important thing they achieved Toilets!!!!! And showers on the wing Grown men having to slop out, doesn't sound to bad but it was One shower and change of clothes (socks under pants etc)per week. The place stank!!

The way prisoners were being treated in those days was seriously appalling, what with screw brutality & horrendous living conditions with no proper humane sanitation. What happened there (the riot) was basically long overdue. I think Alan made a great point, about them letting the riot last, as a distraction from the poll tax demonstrations at that time. Similar things are happening currently, with the Ukraine conflict being used as a distraction, while they slide in central bank digital currency's, along with banks collapsing, lending fraud, & rocketing inflation. All that coupled with some senior MP's covertly channeling public funds into their own personal private wealth. The lid is about to blow off all this shortly too!. The whole corrupt 'system' stinks heavens high, is now time for us all to take back control from government tyranny & enslavement.

Love Alan he changed the system for the better along with others on that roof but I will say the B/C cat jails in the uk are very over crowded now maybe because the prisoners have got it to good or just like the rest of the uk it’s a mess in general that’s just my opinion his story should be a great movie if ever made the title of the film I would call it I got the power ❤

Yep, Paul and Alan were the two main instigators of the riot. Paul Taylor was there right till the end when a cherry picker brought the last remaining few down from the roof

@@JBLancs it's a figure of speech mate kicked off...Reason I knew it was him is because I was in Durham at the same time and he was shipped to there....He used to think he was the king, and always got special privileges....It was piss bucket in them days with no TV or electricity in the cells...He got a radio instantly paid for by the prison while we had to get them from the canteen
