I've had this in my Amazon account for the last 2 days contemplating if I should get it or wait for the Echo Show 15 (large one that can wall mount). I tried to google the difference or similarities. You popped up on my page and I watched your video and decided to purchase the Echo Show 8. You explained so much and articulate it so well that I could understand. I appreciate the info. I've subscribed. Do you have a video explaining the difference between the "soon to be released", Echo Show 15? I lost my home recently from a fire that took absolutely everything (including my parrots, dogs and cat. I was in the hospital with Heart Failure and wondered if I had camera set up like you showed, maybe I could have been able to save my macaws. I'm so new to this Smart Home concept and when they rebuild our home, I 'd like to learn all I can do with the Amazon Echo products,. So thank you for these very informative videos. I'm sure, hopefully, I will be able to learn and look forward to watching all of your content. Thanks again!

Google nest doorbell camera works to show the live feed when someone rings the doorbell as well.

My Echo Show 8 does not do any of this. I think it is faulty. No swipe down, no swipe left or right. Sending it back for a new one. It is just a pain in the butt at this point. Your video is great - helped me understand it wasn't just me having a hard time using it. Thank you!

just bought 10 of these have them everywhere including greenhouse , now when away i can access the camera along with my ring cameras and make sure everything is ok. I can also see who's at my door from any room. Can't seem to link the nest thermostat up yet. If i forget to turn a light off i just ask now. Live in the remote highlands of Scotland so this is great keeping an eye on my house and should i have an accident i just shout hey echo call....

The only application I see for this, is apparently it works a heck of a lot faster than the slow as molasses Alexa app on your phone... which you have to use to setup... and resetup... devices... (when Alexa loses them). OMG is the Alexa app so painfully slow on the smart phone, it's like it has to load it's GUI interface across the internet for every... single.... screen.

My Pop has dementia and I'm hoping this could be used to make phone calls. Is the Alexa call function able to call someone's landline?

Why can't it mute or change the brightness or maximize the ring camera pip or on and on and on by voice commands. Is there a forum somewhere? Do they work on these major shortfalls? Thanks for the video!

Is there a way to get pictures from your phone to show but also having the time on it?

I wish you talked more about the audio, this device is in a weird spot between a full featured tablet or speaker

I recently got the new Echo Show 8 (3rd Gen). I also have the 1st gen. On my 1st Gen while connected to my bluetooth earbuds I can tap the earbuds and pause, skip or go back while listening to music on Pandora. I tried this on the new 3rd gen and it's not working. Was this feature removed from the 3rd Gen Echo Show 8 or is there a setting I need to adjust? Update - I just hooked up my old 1st gen Echo Show 8 and even though it's slower my bluetooth devices work properly with it. I can adjust the volume, pause, play, track forward and track back all with my bluetooth devices. This 3rd gen is being returned.

There are down to 89 bucks. I have a speaker so it’s good I can connect. I was not aware it could do 80 percent of what you were showing. I wonder if you can watch movies from your TV as well?

They should make it so you can reposition the clock into any corner you want instead of it being in the bottom left corner where "I" can't see it because my bed blocks that corner.

I received one of these as a gift but I'll be honest I just don't get it. I have my ring doorbell on my phone, I can stream video to any TV in any room, and digital picture frames? How 2003!

Great video mate. I think Aqara door bell puts up the live video when someone presses the bell. So it is just not the ring. Correct me if I am wrong.

Wondering if they fixed the bluetooth problem. I bought this to upgrade from my 1st generation but the bluetooth wouldn't connect to my various bluetooth speakers/earbuds. I sent it back.

How do I get echo show to display the next calendar item on the home screen. The calendar is syncing fine and I can say show calendar and it does but I cant get it to display any upcoming appointments on the home screen that i can see without clicking somewhere. Seems a bit silly. Is it not capable or need someting enabled ?

Ok. That's funny. I use the wake word "Echo" in my office too and no, it doesn't stop when you ask it to.

I just gotta ask...anyone open one of these to verify the camera cannot see through the shutter? Is the camera able to see Infrared/Near Infrared or only the same as a normal camera? After all, cameras have been released that would later be recalled because they could see through certain clothing people would wear. For example, certain nylons with the quality of being opaque at 380-780 nm. The shutter might be doing it's job or it might not be...🤔

I must say, it is not a good choice. It does not work right, you have to repeat everything often and still it comes up with stuff you did not even ask for. It is very aggravating and I have to do most of it manually. I still have not found out, how to set the timer manually. Anybody any idea how to do that?

It’s way too complicated. I can’t even imagine my parents trying to set that thing up and using it problem free. Long way to go.

1 problem I noticed with the echo 8 is if you have a profile (or contact) setup that you no longer want. There is no option to delete that profile , it only gives the option to rename. My cousin recently got an echo 8 and she asked me to delete a profile of her mother in law who passed away last year and I tried several times to delete it but I couldn't... Also, if you have more than 1 echo device how do you sync the information that you create so it shows up on your other devices... For example, if I create a reminder or sticky note on my echo 8 in the kitchen and I want to see my reminders on the echo 5 in my bedroom it can't show it to me and acts confused. She literally says she doesn't understand.😄

First time experience. This thing is broke. Touch screen will not swipe, and tappping doesn't work 99 percent of the time. Don't they check these at the factory.
