Listening to this guy, it becomes very clear how he can connect and in tune himself with the Doctor character in the writing process

This interview has rekindled my faith in Steven Moffat. Now we can only hope that 9 and Jack will return for the 50th. Jack is a must, in my book.

A brilliant interview Steven! I don't want to know what surprises he has lined up. Let's wait and see

Clever Moffat. Using William Hartnell's comparison of the TV and the TARDIS in 'An Unearthly Child' to explain 3D.

I don't think we ever will hear it onscreen because, what could possibly be appropiate after all this time? It's really one of these things where ppl imagination will always top whatever a given author could come up with.

he's just amazing!

i couldn't agree more!!
@shadic70011 жыл бұрын
thats obviously why he introduces the doctor at "the name of the doctor" that we might not see for a long time and by then the actor might be dead. that was obviously a great decision in the plot
@willwheatley729611 жыл бұрын
btw the name of the doctor is continued basically in the 50th so we may still find out his name
@joseph8625511 жыл бұрын
You can't believe everything you hear. The only things that are concrete fact are things that happen outside. I think a return to DW is just what JB needs after his thrilling exit from 'Arrow'. For all we know, Rose could be restricted to a brief phantom cameo role, like Jamie, Zoe, Liz and Captain Yates all were in 'The Five Doctors'. We won't know anything until November.

Russel was the head writer. It's more likely russel told moffat to include him as a character so rtd could later use him. Head writers have to look over and contribute to every episode, not just their own.

I would be too if you were having a televised interview in which the only questions asked are ones you know you can't answer fully!

There's only one person on this planet less talented than Steven Moffat and that's Russel T Gayvis,
@joseph8625511 жыл бұрын
That's open to debate. Moffat wrote my favourite female companion(Clara), while Davies wrote my favourite male companion(Jack).
@TheJadedJames11 жыл бұрын
That's actually kind of awesome! Although I remember reading that Davies directly told all his writing staff to avoid the internet while they worked on the show because it would "destroy" them. Sadly, that is good advice

Eccleston has been adamant about not returning to the role since he left.

"All I've ever revealed about Doctor Who is anything that we're doing outside." Cryptic answer about a show that is, literally, bigger on the inside. Moffat loves making everything (too) huge, and the way he answered that question sounds like we haven't heard the best things yet. Of course, "don't believe everything you don't hear." Curse you Moffat.

Steven Moffatt resembles closely the late English actor Jack Hawkins.

"You'll just have to wait until November, to find out the truth" What truth? That there was nothing else between now and November? That's a terrible truth.

How was Moffat so calm with a Dalek pointing its blaster at him most of the video?
@Scarilianvids11 жыл бұрын
"If you are ever bored" I suggest checking out my video on the series 7 finale and the 50th anniversary. I have picture proof taken from the episodes, quotes from members of the cast and otherwise. Better than listening to Moffat speak trash about the fans who are just trying to make better theories than his episodes.

So what Moffat's trying to say is all eleven doctors ARE coming back!

haha. aww man, what an awesome and funny guy. laughing at the Doctor Who theorists, and at himself for borrowing from Sherlock Holmes.

...but as far as the stories are concerned, maybe RTD had a few instances where he couldn't *resolve* them perfectly, but I thought he always had very creative ideas that went beyond "protagonists chase monsters". He notably never reused similar elements twice, like Moffat occasionally does - not that he *doesn't* have awesome ideas, but I think RTD was a tad more creative with the plotlines, so I'd say that it's the exact opposite. But meh, as I said before, personal taste.

Wrong! Capt. Jack Harkness was first seen in an episode that was wrote by Steven Moffat, pff. It's called the Empty Child, you know. The scary one from series 1. Russell worked on him only later in the series finale but yeah, anyway Jack is a character by Steven Moffat generally.

Moffat is being quite tight-lipped about the 50th. I'd say the only thing we can really count on, is that it will be completely different from what we expect.

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT Does this mean what I think it means!? DAMN YOU MOFFAT! I thought I was going to hate you but it sounds like the classic Doctors were fibbing XD HERE THEY COME!
@SundownWarrior11 жыл бұрын
Gosh, you seem to really hate Davis. Yeah, I actually later thought about this as I remembered Gaiman complaining how Moffat always corrected his vision of Clara and ultimately led to kind of weak episode with more characters than needed. Don't get me wrong - Nightmare in Silver was quite an episode but for me it wasn't exactly what Gaiman said it would be.
@KendrixTermina11 жыл бұрын
I know that's personal taste, but I cannot disagree more.Davies' characters always felt like heavy-handedly thrown around concepts, like he was *telling* you to like them. I don't hate them or anything (Though I found Donna very obnoxious) but Moffat actually manages to come up with characters who have compelling stories of their own about them and are actually allowed *gasp* character flaws.

@TheJadedJames11 жыл бұрын
I'd say there are just different dudes with different subjective sensibilities. If Joss Whedon took over writing Supernatural halfway into the shows run you'd notice how it was a suddenly a different show about the same idea. RTD wasn't less competent at writing he was just less ambitious. And while I was a huge 11th Doctor and the Ponds fan Clara and her kids leave a lot to be desired so far. Donna was cool, but Rose and Martha similarly could have been handled better.

In fact it is you who are incorrect here. As series runner Russel T Gayvis briefed writers to include particular plot points and characters such the series as a whole aligned to an [always weak]overall story arc. Gayvis did a great job of getting many of his gay entourage work on the show via the...ermm, back door (no pun intended). The character you talk about was created by Gayvis to get his untalented gay buddy work. As a license fee payer I find this kind of nepotism abhorrent.

haha what moffat does in his free time: he watches videos of his fans ranting about how angry he makes them. XD he really is evil.

Good. Angry fans suck. I'm glad he can laugh about them. Better than what I'd do - which is take Doctor Who away from them like a parent dealing with a spoilt child.
