Fun fact: During the episode when all the gems fuse to go to dinner with Connie's parents and they end up falling apart, you can see Ruby and Sapphire's silhouettes where Garnet's should be. The show was hinting at Garnet being a fusion from almost the beginning. She has gems on both hands, and when Jasper poofed her, she turned into two gems.

Future vision isn't seeing the future. Garnet just sees every single possibility the future might take and their probability of happening. She doesn't know exactly what's going to happen and how to prevent it. It's better explained by Garnet in the episode where future vision is introduced.

Garnet's future vision doesn't show her what _will_ happen, it show's all the possibilities that _can_ happen and how probable each path is. So she can see "If we do this, then A will most likely happen, and we can respond with B which will lead to C; but X could happen instead, which we should respond with Y to cause Z," and so on. Steven is just such a wildcard that it becomes unreliable when he's involved.

And now you guys know why Garnet particularly was so excited when Steven and Connie fused. Also, to answer the question at the very end before the video cuts off, the ending song is not sung by Steven (or his voice actor). It's sung by Rebecca Sugar, the creator of the series.

Possible you’ve already got the answer but regarding Future Vision, Garnet doesn’t just see one destined path. She sees every possibility of what could happen if someone chose even slightly different. So while she could have seen the destabilizer she had no way of knowing if Jasper was gonna use it right then or later in the fight or not at all. This is how they keep Garnet from being OP because while she can make an educated guess on which path is gonna happen it’s not 100% certain. And even then I don’t think she’s using it 24/7.

I always loved the little detail of amythyst being happy and pearl being worried about steven showing up, and that being what causes opal to instantly split.

The future vision IS instantaneous. The Snow episode explored all of Steven's choices. This time, it was literally him just exploring the ship via future choices, which would be VERY boring to outside observers.

Fusion are manifestations of relationships, when two gems fuse, the fusion that result from that will represent the relationship that the gems have with each other, the more stable and health the repationship more stable the fusion is, if the two gems have a more impulse relationship the fusion will be very impulsive. in the end the result will be the same it dont matter the order of the fusion, because is the same relationship, for example if Amethyst fuse with Ruby they will become X, if X fuse with Saphire they will become Sugalite. 1+2+3 is still 6 it dont matter the order again, if Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet fuse they become Alexandrite the big 2 face 6 arms fusion. if Garnet fuse with Amethyst they become Sugalite, if Sugalite fuse with Pearl they will still become Alexandrite. because in the end the fusion represent the relationship of all the gems that combine to make the fusion

They were in a very unlikely future. Garnett doesn't know which path will happen she just knows what paths could happen. She didn't know Steven would come back, it seemed likely he wouldn't. She didn't know he'd disobey her order to leave, she didn't know he'd actually risk his life and she didn't know he'd succeed in blocking the weapon. Garnett was caught off guard, Jasper got the best of her.

For me, this was the turning point of the show, like you guys I was kind of on the fence although the second of this season had good stuff. But this episode really hooked me, the song, the fight, the plot twist.

When I first started this show I binged the whole first season in about a week. This was the best payoff I could have asked for at the end of a season. Banger. Absolute banger. Also political power is probably not gonna get enough attention but I absolutely love the storytelling in that one. It's incredible and so underrated.

I know you guys have gotten tons of comments about this already, but you're all extremely overestimating the upper limits of Garnet's future vision. She can see possibilities and the roads they lead to, but only for particular choices. She can't just wake up in the morning and know everything for the next decade. For the most part she only knows something is about to happen in the moments just beforehand, unless it's an extremely likely probability.

Garnet does not have future vision, she sees possibilities like Doctor strange in infinity war. She doesn’t actively know which future will happen because the future isn’t one set path that she can just predict. She can sit down and see what could possibly happen if she she did this or that like tactically but she can’t see a set destined future

Garnet cannot "see" "know" or "Predict" the future. She doens't know what WILL happen, but rather what it COULD happen base on hers/others actions. She can only make assumptions about future POSIBILITIES bases on the information she has. Is not at all that she already knows how the season, or show is going to end and she's just riding along.

Garnet's not seeing one single continuous future constantly, first of all I think she has to actively use it, and when she does, it's like having a room of a million TVs all displaying different possible futures. You could try and look for that perfect future where you get everything right but you'll go crazy doing that for every single decision you're ever going to make. It's kinda like Rick and Morty and the death crystal episode, sabotaging his own future in seeking the future he wanted.

Garnet sees many probabilities. she can only pick one outcome. the future is always undecided until someone or something acts a certain way at a certain time. I think Garnet's future vision works less like actual magic and more like a super high-tech computer trying to calculate all possible futures. Like it could predict a lightning strike based on the electrical charge in the air and the most likely places to get hit, but it can't predict new gem technology that it's never seen or heard of before.

Garnet was adamantly advising Steven to RUN because their future vision could not go beyond that encounter on the beach. Which, for individuals with precognitions, usually means you’re not going to live beyond that point. Garnet’s abilities only occur when Garnet is Garnet. Sapphire is where Garnet gets it from but Garnet is an individual as much as they are a combination.

Jailbreak was the very first episode of SU I had ever seen. It was airing on CN and my youngest brother absolutely loved the show, never paid it any mind and just assumed it was another bad cartoon like TTGo at the time which he also loved watching. One day I had to baby sit him with my two nephews and so we sat down to watch it. The animation, music and story of this episode alone got me hooked to where the next day I decided to go on a binge from Pilot episode, to end of season 1, enjoying every bit of it. I can say for certain this episode holds up even now and that is not nostalgia speaking, this is a solid Season finale to Steven.

38:29 - not exactly. She stated, that she doesn't see an actual "future" of what is definitely is going to happen, per se, but the endless number of the possibilities that "might" happen. I.e. it's not like "i know every detail of events X that can happen between moments of A and B", it's a bit more of a "Between points A and B there could happen either W, X, Y or Z events with different probabilities, and i don't know EXACTLY which one of them plays out... but i still can prepare for all of them". Plus, there was some instances, where she had to take an actual time to sort out a possible scenarios for the optimal solution of the problem, so there's still could be just an "a wasn't thinking about it" type of thing. And, of course, there are always some possibility of "human error" type of thing, like "Even if i see what kind of advanced weapons will be used against us, i still don't know how to counter it because i don't know how they are work", or "I can see us only loosing with different levers of severity of damage dealt to us, but i STLILL not going to give up and will have hope in some miracle". There would be a bit more information about Garnet's future vision powers in the future, so i won't disclose any spoilers right now.

Now this is where things get really interesting in the show. I can't wait for next episode.

My understanding of Garnet/sapphire's future vision is that she can do it, but not necessarily using it at all times. Kinda like a map she consults when she needs to

Garnet sees many possible futures and then assumes by past knowledge which one will happen, but she doesn't always get it right, sometimes someone will do something she didn't expect. I think in this case it was Steven making the choice to come save them with his shield that altered the timeline, and in the moment Garnet didn't have time to go look into the current timeline they jumped to's possible choices; she had to react in the moment and the destabilizing caught her off guard.

In multi-gem fusion (+3), the order of the fusion doesn't matter, just the base (unfused) gems. For example, if Ruby fused with Amethyst and then that fusion fused with Sapphire, you'll still get the same Sugalite as Garnet and Amethyst. Hope that made sense.
