I have a lot of systems & have to keep the costs down on the equipment, so I've just used simple cheap DIY STC type heating units for over 12 years without an issue. A couple of years ago I thought I'd treat myself to some WIFI enabled Inkbirds for a few of my systems, lets just say after a year the Inkbirds were in the bin & I was back to my cheapo DIY units.

I’m running a hygger quarts heater as well for about a year now. No issues so far.

If you haven’t modified your skimmer with a CO2 scrubber you should. My pH kept falling to 7.8 this winter even with running kalkwasser, but once I diy’d a CO2 scrubber the pH is now running 8.1-8.25, and my sps are finally starting to take off. And I’ve given up on the Inkbird-too unreliable and too many false alarms.

I do have a CO2 scrubber synced with the skimmer- doesn't seem to be doing anything though. My ultimate plan is actually to drill a hole on the exterior wall and draw fresh air directly from outside

@@Stevenliu9sorry I forgot to say recirculating scrubber-BIG difference in maintaining higher pH and extending media life. Otherwise the media just gets chewed up quickly when you have too many fish…
