HERE IS PART 26 IN THE TURKEY PATTERN SERIES!!
WE WILL BE DOING ALL THE POPULAR TURKEY LOADS & COMPARING HOW THEY PATTERN AT 30 & 50 YARD (MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE TEST!!)
ALL HEAD TO HEAD BATTLES WILL BE AT 40 YARDS!!
HERE IS MY STOCK STEVENS 301 TURKEY CHOKE PATTERN TEST @ 20 & 40 YARDS!!
NOW AFTER TESTING THIS CHOKE PERFORMED WELL WITH BOTH LOADS ALTHOUGH APEX PERFORMED SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER THAN THE FEDERAL TSS
BOTH LOADS WERE TIGHT AT 20 YARDS AS EXPECTED BUT ONCE WE STEPPED BACK TO 40 YARDS THAT IS WHERE YOU TRULY SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE STOCK CHOKES & A PATTERNMASTER CODE BLACK TURKEY!!
THIS STOCK CHOKE WITH THE APEX TURKEY NINJA WOULD BE MORE THAN CAPABLE OF GETTING THE JOB DONE BUT WITH A CODE BLACK TURKEY THE PERFORMANCE WILL DRASTICALLY IMPROVE!!
DROP A COMMENT BELOW & LET ME KNOW WHAT LOADS YOU'D LIKE & WHY!!
MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR LOCAL STATE LAWS & REGULATIONS TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN SHOOT THE SHOT SIZE OF ALL TUNGSTEN LOADS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE!!
DROP A COMMENT BELOW WITH ANY TURKEY LOADS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE PUT HEAD TO HEAD OR JUST PATTERN TESTED IN GENERAL!!
MAKE SURE TO SUBSCRIBE & HIT THAT NOTIFICATION BELL SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT ON ANY OF THE UPCOMING PATTERN TESTS!!

Just want to drop a line on the Stevens 301 Turkey .410, factory choke and shooting the TSS #9. May 6th 2023 my daughter took her first ever turkey! Shot at 47 yards! It was a big bird! 24lbs, 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. Fantastic and deadly combo for the price Thanks for the info on the Stevens 301 and the reviews for the ammo. You helped make a 10 year olds year and a first turkey that she will never forget!

Jake, exact same results that I experienced with the Federals vs. Apex through the stock choke. Only difference that I had was slight elevational compensation @ 43 yds to where you had to hold on the head vs. Waddle. Still thinking about the patternmaster as a possibility down the road as I agree tighter in your prior test but for those with only stock tube you can still get it done with confidence out to these distances. Great all around and always fantastic informational sessions. Looking forward to more down the road.

Most of the loads we’ve put through our .410’s have been clean enough to not need to clean the barrel every time except the BOSS tom 410 load, that shot great but it left clumps of residue and greatly affected the Apex’s pattern in another test, ive patterned the Apex loads before and they shot amazing

Apex looks patchy and of course its going to have a denser pattern, if the pellets are smaller and thats if the loads are the same weight. If the apex is a heavier load, they're absolutely going to put a bunch more on target.

Stock choke - I don't agree that the Apex is a better pattern, especially @ 20 yards. The Federal patten is nicely spread out & even. The Apex pattern may be tighter, but the shot is more clumped together in spots. I would take the more even spread out pattern over a tight pattern where the shot seems more clumped together in certain spots. Others may look at this differently, but I don't see the Apex as being superior by this example.

@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA It's amazing what a .410 is doing with both loads regardless. It's very nice of you to test & share the results. Since these loads are quite expensive, I think some hunters are hesitant to pattern them like cheaper loads. I've been a bit guilty of helping some new hunters get set up with tight chokes and great turkey loads. In their excitement they miss close birds that sneak up on them. Even with fiber optics sights or scope, they really need to aim. I prefer a nice even pattern over a super tight pattern that clumps up the shot. The bottom line: hunters need to do what you are sharing with their own guns. Clips like your clips help save them some time/money to get where they want to be with their loads.

If you're looking to handicap yourself why put a scope on a 410? Reliability penetrating a deer with a 410 over 60 yards away is iffy anyway. I'd rather shoot a muzzleloader with open sights if I want a challenge, or even a revolver.

@@craig5649 well see I only have 1 eye that works for me now,i lost my right eye when i was in my beloved marine corps and now i can see out of my right eye but I see two instead of one with it open.so I ware a patch on my right eye,and now I have to shoot my rifles left handed but i can use my pistols un my right hand but I have to sight down on them with my left eye.and my good right eye has a cataract on it right now and I'm scared to death to have it took off next mouth.because if the doctor screws up then I'll be blind.i use red dot sights on all my hunting pistols and scopes on all my hunting rifles.so see I'd love to have me a gun like that just to hunt with.and yes I do have hawnen rifles made by t/c in 45,50 and 54 calibers and 2 Kentucky long rifles with open sights 1 in 45 calber and 1 in 50 calber.all bought before I lost my right eye now see.but my kids and grand kids will some day enjoy them someday I hope!!!!!
