As a pilot there will be times that something special happens that you will never forget. Flying the Carbon Cub FX at Orcas Island was one of those moments for me. Join my friend Patrick from www.backcountryaviation.com as he gives me the opportunity to fly my first Taildragger flight from takeoff to landing in tough windy conditions.

That's not an airplane.....it's a balloon! This is the first time I saw 'ol Steveo nervous. Your instructor, Patrick, is a born flight instructor. He and the Carbon Cub are a perfect match.

Steve! I’ve been watching your videos for quite some time, huge fan. I just wanted to let you know that you have made me want to become a pilot. Found a good flight school near me and after watching our videos and learning what IFR and VFR is and how you work the radio may give me an edge when I take my discovery flight! Just wanted to say thank you!

I started flying a PA-11 Super-Cub and I truly love that plane. Flew about 100 hours it that model, until I finally decided to go to a tricycle. Obviously I found much easier to fly the rest of airplanes. But I'm still a fan of any taildragger. Got about 40 hours as a student pilot, and when I was about 20 hours more I started flying it in the rear seat. Much more comfortable, and found it's much easier to land when you are seated at the rear seat. You get an excellent perspective and height-feeling, you can feel clearly how high you are... is great! Now it's about 20 years of that time... and watching you flying this and the other Cub... it was quite moving. I love it. Thank you so much for sharing! Best of best whishes Steveo!!!!

Loved it Steveo - great job. Reminded me of my student pilot training in a Fleet 80 (Fleet Canuck) and then progressed to the "killer 140" as the Cessna 140 was known due to easy ground looping.

What a thrill that was Steveo! Reminded me of my Aeronica champ days only back then, I had to hand prop it to start it.
