WORLDS LARGEST ABANDONED CHRISTIAN THEME PARK | The Holy Land Experience ORLANDO FLORIDA

The Holy Land Experience had its origins in the dream of Marvin Rosenthal, a Russian-Jewish man who later became a Baptist pastor. He founded the missionary organization Zion's Hope and purchased land in Orlando in 1989. The park opened its doors in February 2001, offering a recreation of ancient Jerusalem and 1st-century Judaea.
The Holy Land Experience Scriptorium museum opened in August 2002. It showcased the Van Kampen Collection, which included ancient scrolls, manuscripts, and early printed editions of the Bible. The collection, founded by Robert and Judith Van Kampen, was the fourth largest of its kind.
In June 2007, the Trinity Broadcasting Network, or TBN, purchased the park for an estimated $37 million. Under their ownership, the park underwent construction and additions, including new landscaping, exhibits, restaurants, theaters, and the Church of All Nations auditorium, which opened in 2012.
As a non-denominational Christian living biblical museum and church, the Holy Land Experience conducted weekly church services and bible studies for the general public. The park aimed to provide an immersive experience for visitors, offering a variety of exhibits, live performances, and presentations.
Despite its mission, the park faced its share of controversies. The Jewish Defense League accused the park of proselytizing Jews due to its connection with Zion's Hope, a missionary organization. Additionally, the park fought a legal battle for tax exemption, which was ultimately granted in 2005.
Unfortunately, the park struggled financially in its later years. In February 2020, the Holy Land Experience announced massive layoffs and the closure of its theatrical productions, restaurants, and retail shops. The property was eventually sold to AdventHealth in August 2021, which plans to redevelop the land for a new hospital.

I'm from north Carolina, native from Florida. Went a few times when my grandparents were forcing us to be religious. This place was actually really really cheesey. The actors were hilarious. The rules were intense. I mean I remember accidentally cussing and everyone freaking out and saying you'll be asked to leave. Kinda crazy. It was just a cult type thing as most religion is. It was cool in a way but I'd have to say you didn't miss much, you're getting to experience it ten times better with it being abandoned. Jesus himself would have destroyed this place considering how much they used to profit and charge for souvenirs or anything. We aren't supposed to profit off of God and then claim it's for education. Anyway. Love beautiful places and I love God still but just always disagreed with places like this. You're deemed terrible if you were at Disney the day prior to coming there. It just truly wasn't fun. But that's just my opinion of going several times! Great video and great work :)

Man, it's so weird to see it destroyed. We went with our family in 2014 and 2016 during it's peak times. So weird how dilapidated it got in only 7 years. It's kind of sad to see it go down.

Steve, I have been here several times, I couldn't begin to explain the beauty and the education you received. In was amazing, I have so many happy memories of going there, first with my church and later with my partner. I was so upset to see it this wag. I had no idea it closed. My partner took my picture infront of a large mirror when he showed it to me, Jesus was pictured walking with me. The theater was awesome.

This was so heartbreaking yet so nostalgic to watch! That place had so much peace I learned so much about the Bible and the live action of the tabernacle was my favorite! Watching the food court section I remember the “Goliath burger” and one of the coolest memories were witnessing couples get married by Solomon’s temple!

I remember this place very fondly as I had once upon a time worked there as an actor/minister. I learned so much and got to experience the most amazing cast and crew along with audience members from around the world. Being there taught me the history of ancient cultures soon to be forgotten like the Holy Land Experience itself if we lose sight of the past. Seeing this video sparked many memories and brought serious tears to my eyes. I wept because I felt the presence of God there when I was devoted to that park. I was fortunately able to play Jesus, but also required to play Satan amongst the many biblical characters like King David. There were many devoted Christians who were true of heart and sought God with their entire souls and I admired the many who witnessed before me. People accepted Christ and embraced God like never before there. Of course, there was drama like anywhere else as unique as their own, but I went there on a mission like my fellow believers before me. Many miracles and healings were said to have taken place here. I'm accounting for all of my memories in a memoir I'm writing about since my time at Holy Land Experience as well as when I worked for the Walt Disney Company. I was the only actor in the history of theme parks to play Jesus and Jack Sparrow in the time of their appearances in shows back then. Hopefully, my memoir will be finished soon. As for now, I just want to say feel free to ask any questions that may come to mind if you have them for me.

I went about 10 or so years ago. Met a few of the actors who were sincere Christians. Met the actor who played Jesus. Wonder if it was you? The actors were loyal to Jesus, their jobs and the owner, Jan. Very sad how this place ended up.

I loved the honor and respect you gave to the King of kings, JESUS, when yall first arrived. The exploration was awesome. I'm sure this place was an amzing experience for those Christians that reads the Bibles , almost daily as I do, myself. I'm sure after experiencing this bublical amusement park brought their Bibles alive for them and they came out of that place having a newfound respect for Jesus and The Word of God..especially the children. I even read within the comments that they even baptized people in this place. Im sure if done right and for the right reasons, that God honored that baptism, especially of this place was truly annointed. Not to gain money, but to gain souls for the Kingdom. I would loved to experienced this place. I didnt know this place even existed. Too bad it went under. The land is about to be used for a hospital it seems. Instead of saving souls... they'll at least be helping to heal people. Must be anounted land. Only God knows for sure. Thanks so very much for sharing this with us this exploration. Awesome team and amazing place. ✨

I worked at the Holy Land Experience. To see it now in this condition is so sad. It was such a beautiful anointed place to work and meet lots of people all around the world, that were able to take a biblical re-creation trip back in time. There were lots of biblical artifacts, drama shows. water baptism. Children’s area! In doors and out door shows. We Prayed with those that needed prayer. Gift shop and restaurants. Most of all I love to see people that were moved by the shows and the presents of God that was felt and the love for one another. There were also live TBN takings. Lots of souls were saved.. I will never forget the Holy land Experience. Beautiful place. Working for Jan Crouch was a blessing, she was beautiful inside and out.
