Jack Witham signed for Liverpool in the early 70s. He looked a very good striker but I think he only played a few games for them before he had a terrible injury ruined his career.

It would be hard for people to imagine today just how much bigger the F A Cup was than the League back in those days. Winning the League was great of course but most players and fans would take the cup if asked to choose back in 1970. To put it into perspective, Everton won the title that year but highlights of their title clinching game weren't shown on TV. I think BBC Grandstand may have shown literally 20 seconds on the following Saturday's programme and that was about it.
