Nothing sadder than seeing those things sitting in the bush and rusting away. I would love to see you pick one and start a rebuild series. The merc would look great with a set of super singles, a wicked paint job and a timber tray

Hi mate, I hope all’s good 🙂 On restoring the cab: this cab was used on Mercs for the Brazilian (and other export) markets until very recently; like until 5 years ago! The roof and everything except the rear right-hand side looks saveable. Maybe source a right-hand rear quarter and a door from Brazil? Possibly also a good source for replacement glass and seals, and parts tend to be cheap over there 🙂
@oliverroedel1111
@oliverroedel1111 9 күн бұрын
5 years ago? in brazil? no way! but sure you will find parts easily. but in my opinion the front window is the biggest problem. or not? maybe you can by them there? my 68 f350 (brazilian) maybe needs a new one, and that will be expensive cause they need to be fabricated individual.
@stevesplacedownunder

Hi Jim. It’s all fixable yes. I will put the word out for a cab. There’s a lot around still but don’t really want to wreck another going truck. I will sort something out. Not priority just yet though.

Hey Steve. Thanks for the episode. It's probably just me but I love the sunlight there in Australia. It seems cleaner and more white then here in the northern hemisphere. Might be cause it's winter there. Angle of the sun and all. Anyway, great to see the old gal moving under her own power. Love the sound of the dual exhaust on the tractor too. Nice that the wife helps with the filming. Makes the channel a family thing. Saw the daughter too and the cute dog. We got a terrier mix. Callie. She's smart as a whip and hunts the chipmunks all day. She's up to 18 this season already. Well mate till next time ... 👊😎👍

Hi Paul it’s our pleasure mate. It was a beautiful clear day and because we have been getting a lot of rain, it’s really clear when the sun is out. It is the winter sun but still beautiful. The old tractor is a v4 diesel and yes it sounds great. She helps when she can. Makes a better episode too because it’s more focused. My daughter was holding the iPad for the live stream. The little dog sizzle is one we got for the kids to replace out Jack Russell that was run over. It’s a dachshund and is very young still. Sounds like your little one is busy there mate. All the best Paul

Hi Steve 1924 model hey, fucks she's flash for that early in the century lol😅, let's pretend we didn't here that😂, my 1996 1418 bus has the om366 turbo , 300,000km but smoking it's arse off from sitting 6 years no driving only running every 6 months , got the c tec 24v charger permanent connection so batts are lively and she fires up quick smart but bluey smoke dominated, hold perfect air too , no leaks fr9m nothing air related, unreal I think as my kenworth leaked every where

She sounds like a good old jigger that bus mate. Common that colour smoke if they idle too much or don’t work hard enough. She needs a good run, unless it’s worn out

Steve was that a Eaton shift knob on the Benz? Thanks for the video.👍👍

It's a ZF 5 speed box that's in her. Don't think Mercedes used Eaton boxes?
@stevesplacedownunder
@stevesplacedownunder 8 күн бұрын
Yes it is an Eaton range valve but on the ZF trans. It’s just there for the knob. They had road rangers in them but this one hasn’t. Can get a bell housing to bolt one straight in
