It's easy to cope when you start going bald at like 30-40. Here I am not even 20 yet with a receding hairline :( Edit 9/10/22 I turned 20 like 7 months ago and since then I’ve been taking finasteride to conserve the hair that I do have. I feel as though it’s been working. For the folks out there suffering from hair loss, you’re not alone. The replies to this comment proves that. Stay strong! 💪 👨‍🦲

I started balding at 18 and it was gone by 25. The onset and full loss was devastating to me. I tried all kinds of products and wore an expensive hairpiece for 2 years. One day I woke up and realized that I had been more self-conscious with the hairpiece than I had been losing my hair. I took it off--yes, I slept in it I was so insecure--I shaved my head and I never looked back. It felt so good physically, but more so, emotionally. I truly felt liberated. Everyone loved it, but no one more than me. Guys, don't wait.

@@Josh-kt6jh if its truly due to stress dont worry it won’t be gone permanently.. contrary to popular belief stress doesnt make you go bald the way most guys go bald, it can make you shed more hair but thats all, it doesnt kill the hair follicles…Genetic sensitivity to a testosterone (male pattern baldness) is what male you bald permanently..So look around at your family and look for any baldness in your both your mother’s and father’s side, if there is any, chances are it IS male pattern baldness but if not then youre prob good.

This a true story. Was balding since 22... Had a visible bald spot at the back and receding hairline. Tried to hold on (without medication) using combovers until 26 when finally I had enough of it. Shaved the whole damn thing off and grew a HUGE beard. Few years later I break up with my long term girlfriend (unrelated to the baldness) and now for the first time I'm tackling the dating world as a bald dude. Meet a drop dead gorgeous co worker my age and get her to go on a date with me. We're married now. Baldness didn't hold me back at all. I trim the beard down to about 12/13mm and shave my head every 2 days. I workout hard 4x a week. I'm a pale, white dude but I don't let having no hair bother me. Confidence is attractive to women not insecurity. Stay mentally strong and you'll all be fine.

Honestly, I’ve felt the feelings about balding, since I’ve been losing hair since 17 (almost 21 now) and I think to myself, why? Why is this giving me such anxiety and self esteem issues? It’s just hair? So what if I have a bad head shape for being bald? So what if people make fun of me? The people that truly care about me won’t care, and the others don’t mean a thing to me. I started going bald in my early twenties. Funny, I would probably Buzz my hair really short now even if I had hair. I love not ever having to go to the barber anymore. Going bald is something you think is the worst thing ever but when it happens to you you are upset for a short time and then you get over it and move on with your life and realize it was never a big deal. It's just hair. The main thing that bothers me is the Practical downsides such as my head being subject to getting cold or getting sunburn. All the men I see fighting it, become a slave to it. I shaved my head because I saw it coming. Actually happened way slower than I expected, still not the worst. I just got used to the look real quick, so did the people around me. The lack of maintenance is a godsend. I used to like a tight fade, so I was at the barbers fortnightly doing a 30 mile round trip. I put a few years into a beard, now I cannot imagine not shaving my head. I look like a different person but also feel like a different animal. I recommend leaning into it. It's scary, but there is no courage without fear. Free yourselves.
@comfysituations3566
@comfysituations3566 6 ай бұрын
"Leaning into it" would be keeping it short and letting everyone see that you have a receding hairline. Shaving your head is just another way of concealing it -- no different than getting a toupee. In fact it's probably way more maintenance to have to continually shave it every day than to just get a hair piece or something.

especially since fat woman can lose weight. Balding men can't grow hair. I love the double standards in our society. Say something against women and you are dead. I tried shaving to a guard zero for a while. It made my diffuse thinning less obvious, and I had the look of shaving my head by choice. The problem is that I have skin bumps and dermititis on my scalp. People accidentally cut themselves when they shave facial hair. That's what happened when I shaved my scalp hair. If you're like Steve and have perfect skin, a perfect head shape, a handsome face, thick facial hair, a charismatic personality and millions of dollars, then you might be able to accept hair loss. I don't, so I used dutasteride and oral minoxidil to rethicken my hair and grow it long. It really does become your identity. People don't say, "He has a bald head," or "He's lost his hair." They say, "He's bald." It becomes the entirety of who you are. It's the first thing people say about you. If you meet someone who hasn't seen you in 15 years, they don't say, "You have a PhD," or "You have a great personality." The first thing they will notice is your hair, which you had when you were in high school but don't anymore.

Why do men only bald
@AliAlhussaini
@AliAlhussaini 3 жыл бұрын
@@anonymousjrjr8822 A simple explanation would be because the baldness gene is associated with the X chromosome, so women are XX and men are XY therefore women need double the bald gene as men to become bald. Plus, the main reason for thinning hair is the DHT sensitivity of the scalp, men are more prone to hair loss because DHT comes from Testosterone, hope that I helped a little

I don't understand the unwritten rule that thinning hair HAS to get shaved. I just don't get the pressure to do so. I don't agree with growing out the remaining hairs to be long, but I think its stupid to feel the need to go automatically to the razor
@quietgiant474
@quietgiant474 2 жыл бұрын
True, most people will rather face the razor than to try stuff that takes a bit of time and patience. If the stuff you've tried doesn't work then it's safe to say you can cut it. Slightly thinning hair can still look good with some work.

Every balding dude has to through this phase of extreme agony of lowered self esteem.U feel so worthless looking at all your friends sporting hairstyles flawlessly and talking to women around you and the bullying and mocking that comes from your fellow dudes rubs more salt to the already worsened wound but once u get past this phase and come to a realisation that nothing can stop your hair from eventual balding,u feel liberated and it no longer bothers you.The moment you accept yourself for who you are, people around you start noticing you and if u aren't bothered with your physical flaws then no one can use it against you.laugh at your physical imperfections before someone does it to you.As a balding dude I went through all these stages and here I am now no longer worried what my head will look like in 5,6 years because I know lol..😂.

@@milestone4549 Lol there's literally no side effects for 96-99% of men as all studies and even the trials demonstrate. They absolutely are worth using because not only are they extremely safe but they are also extremely effective and do save your hair if you are balding. And on top of all that Finasteride even makes you more masculine due to the fact that your Testosterone is increased as a result of the drug blocking the conversion from T into its waste byproduct of DHT.

You sure it's a balding hairline and not a maturing one ? No need to ask, you want to know what is the difference and how can you tell. Basically, a maturing hairline is a type of hairline that 95% of adult white men have when they are nearing the end of puberty (16-25). You lose your juvenile straight or round hairline and you instead get an M shape hairline (not a bad case where your edges are 5cm behind the widow's peak, but 1cm). Only 5% of adult white men that still have their hair, keep their pre-16 year old hairline, that number is slightly higher among black, East Asian and Native Americans whilst Arabs and West Asians (technically white people and Asian mixes) have a smaller percentage than white Europeans. So how can you tell ? If your hairline is receding equally and slowly (the process of equalizing the hairline can take up to 10 years) and if you're 16-25 (you previously had a juvenile hairline), you're NOT going bald. If you're losing hair rapidly (you can notice excess hair in the shower and on your pillow, more than 100 hairs), are older than 25 and your edges/crown is balding, you are going bald. Nothing is uniform however and you can go bald enough to shave it off by the age of 20 or you can still rock a juvenile hairline at 80.
@Jesusaross

I went bald around that age too. I shaved it off at 22 after trying to conceal it for too long. Just accepting it is definitely the way to go.

I still have a hairline. So I don't totally shave my head bald. However, that vortex is bare. I keep my hair very low. Just let it go, guys. It's not coming back. Some guys kill me talking about "I'm gonna wait until I'm 40 to shave my head." Well, you need to cut that junk off because your hair isn't waiting until your 40 to fall out. I want my hair back! I'm only 50! LOL

I don’t know if this could be helpful to someone, I’m 22 and started losing hairs when I was like 18, and since I was 17 I’ve always had long hair, today I decided to shave my head and guess what? Never feel better about my hair! I decided that it wasn’t worth to spend energy and time into something that literally do not define the person I am, there are a 1000 better things worth spending time on, life is not only about hairs! I hope that this comment can be useful to someone that is struggling with this, bye.
