That's why I have the utmost respect for him. He's explaining how there was no CGI back then, so he had no choice but to do the stunts himself. And now he's probably the most legendary stuntman ever.

There was CG it was only aquirable with a high enough budget. Jackie at that time didn't have a Hollywood level budget so he just did what he had to do, often times filming the same grueling action shots multiple times for perfection which was one of the bonuses of filming in Hong Kong instead of the States

People usually don't think of Jackie Chan as "badass" because he's always smiling and funny, but he's honestly the single most badass action star there ever was. No other actor in the world comes close. Jackie holds the world record for performing the most stunts, but even more impressive is the fact that he performed them without any safety harnesses or padding. The man has hung onto helicopters, slid down skyscrapers, fell from high buildings, fractured his face, took a hole to the head, lost his teeth, burned himself, electricuted himself, broke damn near every bone in his body and STILL kept going. Any one of these injuries would have made headlines in Hollywood, but for Jackie it's just another Tuesday. I can't believe he's still alive. His dedication to his craft is extraordinary. Jackie Chan is an absolute beast and there won't be anyone else like him for a long time especially in the age of CGI

He also had a team of people who worked with him as stuntsmen. Some of them died doing stunts. They were literally acting with their lives on the line. A TV show in China brought back what was left of the OG crew and it brought him to tears.

My mum used to watch some of his movies. A few years ago, she told me that in the old days, there are no computers or special effects machine, they did the stunts with real falls, real broken bones, no ropes, no cable, no tech support, everything is real. So you all can just imagine how much pain Jackie and his stunt crew have been through for the past 40 years

Thats....untrue. Jackie just do the stunt to the extreme and do the stunt himself. Thus the broken bones. Other actors get stuntmen to do it. That being said, its all as captured on camera. A car flipping? Explosion? Bike jump over moving car? Its all as captured by camera, albeit in controlled situation. Watch alien 1. Watch the alien burst through the chest. Theres no cgi there, but pure practical effect.

I love how he talks about his injuries like it's nothing but I can tell the sadness behind his eyes...it made me almost teared up. He is a true legend and that title didn't come easy. That would be Cassandra Cain, well Batgirl. No idea if WB/DC is willing to do the bat-family yet though many are hoping for it. But for action movies, Hollywood isn't great at them mostly. Jackie rehearsed the fights over and over and over which is expensive and time consuming. Though I suppose with the right stunt actors and maybe some of the cg effects they have these days they might be able to pull it off efficiently enough. If you actually watch the Nolan Batman movies' fight scenes they're not great. Hell the BvS warehouse scene is meh compared to Jackie's fights, jump cuts every few seconds, and for some reason a cgi'd blood smear for the blu-ray to make it edgier, they forget to add it in a later jump cut.

Lack of CGI is what made Jackie's movies so great. It was all real and the bloopers at the end was hilarious.
