the problem with advertising a casino is that it triggers gamblers addictions, like smoking in a movie for example, a smoker will automatically get an urge to smoke, its the same thing, so advertising these things is pretty messed up

@timmysleftnutsack5075 3 жыл бұрын
but like peoples internal struggles doesn’t mean we should stop everything that “triggers” them, like life goes on lol. If they’re willpower is that weak, that a movie scene of a cig gets them reining to smoke, then that’s on them lol. Idk. But gambling sucks

@@timmysleftnutsack5075 why is it so hard for people to understand that simple concept
@Sick_cant
@Sick_cant 3 жыл бұрын
Addictions are a hell of a thing and genetics can play a big part. They effect everyone differently so those "urges" can be stronger or weaker from person to person. It is a chemical reaction in your brain which depending on your genetics could make you crave that something more. For the first little while gambling and smoking for me were just a bit of fun when I was drinking and without even noticing they became an addiction. I was younger and naive thinking I wouldn't even get addicted. My dad is a heavy smoker and always has been, that second hand smoke while I was growing up made me prone to addiction and my genetics only helped multiply the receptors in my brain making me like and crave cigarettes more. I only smoked for 4 years but I still feel so reliant on nicotine to feel normal, I haven't had one for over 2 weeks now but I have started vaping and will ease myself of nicotine and hopefully never waste anymore money on any of the bullshit. For me to calm the cravings to gamble took a bit more than telling myself no. I had to stop going out with my mates for a while because I would end up on the pokies, I had to limit my gambling apps to a max $0 deposit. And now after 1.5 years of that I still consider myself pretty strongly addicted. On many occasions in the past 6 months I have "relapsed" I remember once after a video from Steve I thought fuck it and chucked $50 bitcoin (which at the time was not a good idea) on some sus as fuck gambling site and lost it in about 5 minutes. I can somewhat respect the hustle but just watching people gamble and win money triggers the receptors in my brain and I will start to crave the feeling of winning and I tell myself lies to convince myself it's okay. At the end of the day it is more than an urge it's a disease that can go so far deep into your brain without you even realising before it's too late. Sorry about my life story it wasn't even really directed at anyone but people have to be aware that to a person dealing with addiction it is more than the urge you might get to order takeaway (which is another disease in its self). It's a craving you tell yourself, "it will be the last time", "I will win", "It will make me feel better" and sometimes the cravings don't go away so easily it will nudge you every few minutes and you start to imagine what it would feel like if you had a dart or a bet and by that point I used to give in almost 100% of the time.

So these sites have a few different types of contracts with streamers. Some casinos will "stake" the streamer with funds sent directly on the site. The streamer then has to gamble a certain dollar amount before they're able to withdraw those funds (e.g., the company gives the streamer $10k to gamble with but they can't take that money off the site until they've wagered like $200,000. so they have to continue betting and winning to get paid). Bigger streamers like train wrecks get paid millions of dollars directly each month and they have to fulfill contractual time obligations in order to get paid. I think train said each gambling stream has to be at least 4hrs long for him to meet his contract's requirements. It's scummy.
@FizzahEditz
@FizzahEditz 3 жыл бұрын
@High Pluto it’s scummy because it encourages people to put gamble their own money, while the streamers are being given money to gamble. When the steamers lose, it’s not a big deal, when the fans lose, it can be extremely detrimental to their livelihoods. Also the manner of which these streamers gamble is not responsible at all, for example, chasing their losses by doubling down consistently. A viewer unfamiliar with gambling can quiet easily see that and think it’s a sustainable or viable method of betting. Whereas in reality, for the streamer there’s no risk of losing their own money, and for the viewer there’s a massive risk. This risk comparison is never clearly explained within these streams.

I have to disagree. KZfaqrs promote all types or products and services that are trash. People need to have more accountability for getting “influenced” to do/buy something stupid. As far as kids: they don’t have $10k to blow in the first place so it was clearly an adult being stupid. Another point: yes as a whole, the site always comes out on top, but it doesn’t mean you can’t/won’t ever have a net profit. Same as any casino. I feel like a lot of people really against this are slightly salty for missing out on a huge bag.

1st off is it morally wrong: eh, probably? (legally almost certainly) 2nd and more importantly imo, WHOS JOB IS IT TO NOT GAMBLE? Who is the onus on? It's not Steve or any other content creators job to stop endorsing gambling. I have lost thousands gambling online (while not being old enough to gamble legally) and I consider myself a compulsive gambler. Even with that in mind, I still recognize it's NO ONEs fault but my own if I CHOOSE to gamble. Sometimes freedom means failure. IF a minors parents aren't stopping them, and a young adult isn't stopping themselves that falls solely on them. 3rd and finally, I truly think people like myself and others don't care about the ethical implications of what Steve is doing, simply because we wish we were him. It's a fantasy just like Nelk sells, just like Sports Illustrated and Playboy did back in the day. Reinforcing strong cultural norms against gambling and other detrimental habits is the only way to fix them, but going to the pushers of those things to be the voice of reason is asinine.
@pinkshortsmanwithban

Sure but when it's presented as Steve making tons of money "gambling" which he really isn't because he's being paid, the odds are rigged, and his account is bankrolled by the gambling platform it's problematic for these ads to be watched by young adults who don't have the knowledge to know it's fake and they won't make money
@HoHo-pm6zr
@HoHo-pm6zr 3 жыл бұрын
@@pinkshortsmanwithban he says roobet bankrolls him in every video. Young adults shouldn't be watching gambling content, but that's the parents job to teach and limit access to potentially harmful content. Adult content creators in all do not have a duty to not create content because it influences bad decisions. So yeah ur right but also it's just not his job.

I'm pretty sure they'd also be happier keeping their money than losing it too. Advertising gambling to impressionable teenagers and young adults who you know look up to you so you can profit off of their losses is a shitty thing to do, and just because "he isn't famous for his morality" doesn't mean he shouldn't be held to accountable when he does shitty things. Same goes for him being a good person. Good people can still do shitty things sometimes.

How does Faze Banks continue to get away with everything? I clearly remember Tmartyn getting outed as the main person who did the CS GO thing, thus why he made the apology video. Banks was the dude who cut the deal with Wizza to make the "Wizza house" that he, Mike Majlak, Adin Ross & other influencers live in. He's also mostly responsible for Adin's streams gambling on Roobet, I mean he at least set up their deal anyway - and then if you listen to Banks on his podcast "Moms Basement" with Keemstar, he's constantly acting like he's never done anything shady and "tried to advise his friends to stay away from promoting shitcoins or anything shady". I don't understand how he hasn't been outed yet.

man i hate steve and nelk as much as anyone else but how do you think casinos stay in operation, if not by profiting off people's losses? any spokesperson, employee, stakeholder etc in a casino makes money off people LOSING. so it's disingenuous to say that steve is doing anything more sinister or different than anyone in the pocket of a casino. any brand ambassador gets money from that brand from the brand's revenue. your problem should be more with that this casino is completely unregulated, being based in the caribbean or something unlike vegas casinos that have to comply with certain laws. supporting these cryptocasinos is scummy because they could, at any time, just screw people out of money with no legal repercussions. but to be clear: there is nothing unusual about how steve gets income as a percentage of people's losses. you might as well complain about how schools get income from lottery taxes, since those taxes come out of the lottery's profit.
