Stevie is 75 years young and still touring. My wife and I saw her perform in Phoenix last year in a double billing with none other than Billy Joel. I'm 60 years old and this was one of the best concerts I've ever attended.

A quick story: I saw her on this tour in Las Vegas at the Aladdin hotel. It was a solo tour, no opening act, no closing act. When she reached the end of her set list, she went around and gathered flowers just like you see in this video. Someone stole her ring right off of her finger. She went back over to the microphone. Had the lights turned off in the whole venue and said, “ someone stole my ring. These lights are going to remain off for five minutes and if my ring is not back on the stage at the end of the five minutes the concert is over.” I don’t think anybody left the room. Five minutes later, when the stage lights came back on, she walked over picked up her ring put it on her finger and continued with two more encores. What a class act she is !!!

I am forever grateful for the gifts left to the White Witch. Her voice is sublime.

"Leather and Lace" from this same concert is brilliant. The original is Stevie with Don Henley, but for this concert it was done solo with her two backup singers contributing more significantly. The three of them together at the mic is like listening to sirens pull you in. Magnetic!

I feel so lucky to have been a teen at this time. Stevie Nicks was our goddess. Her song lyrics were in our high school grad announcements. Bella Donna should be required listening! Her ethereal beauty; truly our White Witch. Stand Back, Beauty and the Beast, Silver Springs, so many greats. Thanks for featuring her!

Music was so awesome in the 70's, every artist was trying to one up each other. This was a time you truly had to be talented because there was no auto tune and background tracks to enhance the music. They were good at singing and playing their music.

This give me goosebumps to see her perform this live. She was in her prime, and nobody holds a candle to her style, performance and stage presence.

This album was constantly on my turntable in 1981. Stevie had clearly arrived. The title song, (Bella Donna), Edge of Seventeen and Stop Dragging my Heart Around are the clear stars, but as others have pointed out, many other cuts resonated. The Highwayman is one of my faves. Agree that in the day we had real voices, real musicianship, real writing, real talent. I saw Christine McVee say once in an interview that although she was always so impressed with Stevie's great song writing, she often had no idea what her songs meant. 😂

Waddy Wachtel is still touring with Stevie Nicks. He’s killing it on guitar. I just saw her this month 8/2024. She was amazing. Stevie has a powerful voice and presence. She elevated Fleetwood Mac to soaring heights. Wrote some of their greatest hits. I grew up on Fleetwood Mac. Loved them ❤

Waddy the guitarist famously didn’t want to do this song originally ….he wanted to do the entire riff with no help from any echo manipulation …..the sound then was copied by Destiny’s Child in their Bootylicious big hit…Roy Brittan of the East Street Band usual plays with Springsteen is playing the keyboards…..Roy also contributed to the Meat Loaf’s breakout “Bat Out Of Hell” debut album…..that’s Stevie’s sister sharing the vocals …

I was 18 when her LP Bella Donna came out. I would drive around with Stevie blaring from the speakers, singing at the top of my lungs. Every song is a masterpiece.

This came out when I was 'on the edge of 17' and it was my anthem.

She did a short tour after the release of her first album. The band was the best of the best. This was the final encore from the last show of the tour. Bob Glaub (bass) and Russ Kunkel (drums) from Jackson Browne's band Roy Bittan (piano, keys) from Springsteen's band Waddy watchel (guitar) was the #1 studio guy then One of the background singers was Stevie's sister.

That "guitarist" Waddy Wachtel is one of the greatest session musicians ever. He has played with so many greats of so many different genres. To name a few, Stevie Nicks (still tours with her) Linda Ronstadt, Warren Zevon, Randy Newman, Jon Bon Jovi, Jackson Browne and on and on. Not to mention Russ Kunkel on the drums...another fantastic session musician who has played with many great musicians.

Stevie Nicks & her band mates went to see the Police perform & they have a song called Bring on the Night that they performed during that show. They later went backstage to met them & her guitarist told the Police he liked that opening riff & bass line & asked if he could borrow it for a song they were writing. The Police said they could take a piece of it & that’s how you have this songs riff.

Destiny’s Child sampled this for their song Boodylicious.

I got into Fleetwood Mac in the mid 70's and the had a friend give me the album Buckingham Nicks in 1979 and its a fantastic album. When Stevie came out with Belladonna it was so good and really showcased her talent. I saw her in concert in 1983 and have some criticism about it because of her issues then and was a bit disappointed in her performance. I saw her again in 1989 when she had taken control of her life and it was absolutely fantastic. Remember, Stevie wrote songs about the breakup between her and Lyndsay Buckingham for the Rumors album and Lyndsay had to play on the songs.

This Chicago performance is absolutely incredible!!!!!!!! One of my live performances of any song!!!

Stevie was dealing with alot during the beginning of her solo career, she got the news that the album Belladonna that this song was on reached number 1 on the charts, that same day she found out her best friend Robin had cancer and would eventually pass away, with just doing 12 shows, she thought that this album would be the beginning and the end of her solo career, with this being the last show of the tour, she had to return back to Fleetwood Mac to start The Mirage Album, oh and by the way the grabbing gifts and flowers at the end of Edge of Seventeen is what us fans call "The Edge Walk" and she still does this til this very day at the age of 75 and the end of her shows... Yeah our generation already knew just how freakin awesome so many of these performances are. And it brings back just a bit of that thrill when we see your genuine appreciation learning about the context. To speak to your mention of current female rockers, one that you didn't mention is Miley Cyrus. Have you checked out much of her work? I admit, I first learned about her from my 11 year old daughter, but that was 15 years ago. Her cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters Live at Glastonbury really is epic.

This is often a transition song in her concerts--she collects gifts from the audience. Her back-up singers are friends/family--and you hit it. She has always said she is a rock star--was before she ever moved to LA with Lyndsey. Have seen her live many, many times since the 70s--I prefer her solo shows to FM. She and Lyndsey opened for Janis Joplin early in their career--she has modeled her live performance based on the energy she saw Janis do.

Hannah Wicklund is a young guitarist/vocalist/songwriter you should check out. The live version of her song " Ghost" would be a good place to start. She is definitely a rocker of this era.

I watched an interview with Srevie, and she said this song was about her cousin who died..he was a little younger than her at the age of 17. She had been at the hospital..then went back the next day and he passed away while she held his hand.

Her singing and lyrics are just top notch, and her performance and dress were classy and not like today's overly sexualized dress, bland lyrics, over processed vocals, and needlessly choreographed performances (usually all to hide their lack of vocal and musical talent).
