I had numerous conversations with Stevie during all the years I lived in Austin. He was a wonderful guy with no ego whatsoever. He had a singular focus - guitar. He was like a sponge - he studied every blues recording out there and absorbed all of it. He was like a living lexicon of blues licks. He was so great because he played the hell out of his guitar every day of his life. "If the House is a Rockin" sums it up. You could hear him from the street any day of the week - if he was home, he was playing, If he wasn't home, he was playing.

What a performance. One of the things I've noticed about SRV's playing is just how effortlessly his huge talent comes to him. He normally makes it look easy. You can see how hard he's working next to Jeff, and you can feel the huge admiration. SRV is famously a graduate of the Hendrix school, but you can tell that Jeff was a hero of his too, and he is absolutely playing his face off, as we all would next to a hero we admire. It's Jeff here who looks effortless, flowing like water to Stevie's fire. Both of them playing for each other, both of them having the time of their lives. I'm glad that both of them lived this life of joyous music, and I'm only sad that they're gone. RIP, gentlemen.

Two guitar virtuoso's in their own right. I was blessed to be at the show before this one.. 1st set Jeff Beck did "Guitar Shop" then 2nd set SRV, 3rd set together, encore Stevie did Hendrix(Voodoo Child, R U Experienced that flowed right into 3rd Stne from the Sun) I'm still speachless!

First time I've ever seen or heard Stevie really cut loose when sharing the stage with someone else - goes to show just how good Jeff Beck is, and how much Stevie must have respected him!

Is it my imagination or did Stevie just teach Jeff what soul is? Both great guys, great guitarists ❤️ RIP and salute to these masters. Stevie, though...Stevie has the vibe and the groove and his voice is R&B perfection.

I WAS AT THIS SHOW!!!!! I always see other people say that, and finally someone posted something I saw live! And, not only that, but out of the close to 300 pro groups I've seen, that night goes down as my favorite guitar performance. Too bad the entire encore song, "Going Down" isn't here. The song contained yet another barrage of solo's between Stevie & Jeff, but hopefully the entire concert will be released some day. That evening was Stevie Ray's 3rd anniversary for being clean and sober. He testified by word and by axe. A fire axe cause he was on fire!! As for Jeff - Incredible!! It was his "Guitar Shop" tour and the sounds and screaming solos were all there. He even broke a Strat for good measure!! It was as if the spirit of Hendrix filled the entire night.... Anyhow, THANK YOU SRVMusicVideo FOR SHARING!!!!!!!!

I was at this show too!!Had the pleasure of seeing SRV 15 times in 5 years, with the first show at the Aragon Ballroom with Albert Collins in '84( drove my dads Pinto to the show ta 16yrs old) and Bluesfest in '85 and also at Legends with Buddy in'89. Was at Legends the night b4 he died and Dave Mason, Buddy Miles and Willie Dixon jammed with Buddy. All night Buddy said "he'll be here" and at the end of the night Buddy said "I guess i'll have to go get him" Love Ya SRV!!!!

Thank you, Jim for your message. I appreciate your story about Buddy Miles. Buddy was a personal friend and I wasn't aware of the Mason, Miles & Dixon jam. I bet that was awesome!! I sure miss my 'ol Buddy. Guess I'll have to go get him some day. Rest easy Stevie Ray & Buddy.

I was lucky enough to see this tour in L.A. at the Sports Arena. Don't forget Terry Bozzio on drums (With Jeff Beck) as well. SRV really showed me something about the blues that night.

I am new to KZfaq, but just wanted to say I was at the L.A. Sports Arena show also. I consider myself very fortunate to have seen both JB and SRV jamming that night. I remember KLOS asked everyone to drive with their lights on, the day after SRV's death, to honor and remember him. I drove from West L.A. to Alhambra with my lights on and SRV in the tape deck. RIP
