While he was playing with his teeth, he actually lost a tooth doing it. You can see him looking on the stage for it. Then you see him turn his head to tell his people, "Lost my tooth!" You can actually see him mouthing the words. And yet it never stopped his performance. The man was just the ultimate guitar God!!

Hell yeah SRV is the man! I'm a guitarist of 37 years playing, & folks say I'm damn good but Stevie is the absolute best Guitarist ever! My dad played music with him before he was famous along with other greats,Steve Wariner, Ricky Skaggs,Jerry Reed,& Keith Whitley! I had the honor of picking some jam fests with them also & it's a true experience I'll never forget! This was back when music was real & really meant something. Ps. I appreciate you for posting this. Thanks it brought back memories for me! 🙂

Wake up in the morning, have some coffee and play my guitar,” not far from off base. I saw double trouble live in 88, or 89. I was stoked because it was Friday night, I knew I was getting a meet and greet with my heroes of the blues, and let me tell you, Stevie fed off of the energy from his audience. I was dancing to (probably Look At Little Sister, but I don’t remember) and he made that song last for at least 15 minutes. As long as he played, I danced and NEVER got tired. He could go on forever and often played 8-12 hours at a time. He’s my hero and I miss him every day.

Thanks for sharing Stevie love. He wrote this song for his friend Charlie, who gave him that beautiful white guitar. Did you noticed he started the song with another guitar, and switched out without missing a beat? Another Stevie talent. Charlie owned a guitar shop, and was very kind and generous toward Stevie. He died suddenly, and this song captures Stevie’s feelings. The music/guitar just screams with his pain and loss. The lyric, “The Angels have waited, for so long, now they have their way. Take your place…” Stunning. Please do more Stevie. He es as kind and humble as he was talented. Try “Tin Pan Alley” with Stevie Ray and Johnny Copeland. He gives his raspiest Blues voice and killer guitar. ❤️Donna G

I guess you can hold back SRV for only a short while before he HAS TO break out and show his chops, shred his axe, strut his stuff, amaze us once again. Nice to hear a more mellow tune from this genius, this prodigy. His narrative message should be listened to by everybody on the planet; another emissary for love and peace around the world; music can be an intense catalyst for this goal. He's crying through his guitar for the love he's having to live life without.

Had the honor and joy of seeing SRV 9 Times, The first time by accident before his first album was released, I guess touring for it. The guy was the best at what he did for sure! Only once did I see him where he wasn't totally on, and he couldn't remember any of his lyrics, but didn't miss a note on the guitar. that week he had put himself in rehab and had gotten clean a sober. I then saw him on his first show after rehab and it was out of this world amazing!!

I've been playing guitar for about 40 years now and SRV was a huge influence for me early on. I was even lucky enough to see him in concert for his "In Step" tour in the late 80s. I even got to shake his hand backstage as well. I was only 17 and absolutely awestruck at the time. LOL It's great how SRV loves to put on a show and entertain the crowd. Playing an amazing solo isn't enough, he'll do it behind his back! A little secret for those who don't play an instrument. Playing guitar behind your back isn't that difficult. After you have been playing for a number of years it becomes 2nd nature for you. You can easily play without having to look at your hands, even if you are moving up/down the guitar neck. You can just feel the positions your hands are in. The part that freaks me out is that SRV changes the guitar behind his back in the middle of his solo. In a half to a full measure of the song (1-2 seconds) he unstraps the guitar, swings it behind him and then without seeing what he's doing he's able to put the strap back on and then start playing. WTF? What if he can't find where to hook the strap back up? What if the strap is only partially on and the guitar falls off in the middle of his solo? In the video for his "Texas Flood" song SRV also spins in a circle while moving the guitar behind his back and then is able to continue his solo without any noticeable interruption. So much guts to try that on stage while playing a solo.

Th one line that always stuck with me since the first time I saw this performance is when he says “don’t ever push anybody down because we’re up” man that is sooo true it’s so common to start doing well and try push others down instead of trying to win together takes me back to a saying that I heard a long time ago when I was a kid and it’s “it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice” ❤️💯 love Stevie

If you see all that happened during this performance you should realise how talented this man really was. First he switches out guitars as the first won't stay in tune. He then spends the first solo tuning the new one into his amps. He then plays over half the song behind his back and even knocks out a tooth when playing with his teeth! If you were only listening then you wouldn't know that any of this happened! He was just the best! No question!

One of the great pleasures in life is seeing new people, young people, find the GOAT. For those of us who lived through it as it happened, and loved and lost Stevie, seeing a new audience discover him and appreciate his music and passion, and soul, is always reassuring, that Stevie WAS a messenger, and on a path, which some of us were lucky to share during his short stay with us, that still resonates to this day. People see him and KNOW and FEEL his fire and passion, and instinctively respond. In an age where fake is normal, no one is going to ever accuse Stevie of that. He will always be my gateway to the blues, something that sent me down a rabbit hole int he late 80's and from which im yet to emerge. He always quoted his sources (made sure his heroes were known, and in some cases got paid for the first time in decades), respected and loved them, made sure we all knew he was ONLY who he was because of them, and humbled himself before them, and well that only made us love him more. That he had to conquer open racism in his own family, along with his brother Jimmie, to champion the music they loved and the greatest American art form when it was (arguably) on its last breaths, speaks another volume about the man. Stevie is elemental. He means more to me now at 50 than he did when i was 17....he remains missed, and loved
