🙌👏‼️💯 this is my all time favorite of his even though every one is a favorite. This is so special for in so many ways. First he wrote this song for his good friend Charlie Wirz, a Dallas guitar shop owner, after he passed away suddenly. That white guitar he is playing is named Charlie and came from Charlie's shop. I don't think you even noticed at the very beginning he was playing a brown guitar that he was trying to tune but then asked for a switch. The change out was so seamless that the ear cannot detect it. Some of the lyrics from this song "all the love you passed our way" is engraved on his gravesite. Google an image of it. When he played with his teeth he lost a false tooth "flipper". You can see him whirl around and look around on the floor for it. He then mouths to his tech "my tooth" and then mouths "sorry" for the tech having to come on and retrieve it for him. This has so much passion and soul, tender vocals, stellar riffs and runs, and just too cool and hot at the same time. I promise you will watch many more times. By now I now it is impossible for me to ever tire of watching/hearing this. So fun to watch a new Stevie fan discover his amazing mastery. You have only just begun. I know you watched Voodoo Child 1989 ACL, and watched Jimi performing live, but I think Stevie's version from his Toyko concert is by far the ultimate Voodoo Child. He takes his time (over 15 minutes) and slows it down and spins and weaves the structure of the song into his riffs and runs and it is next level. Anything from the Toyko concert is golden.. but you can say that about everything he does. Another favorite of mine is from the Capitol Theatre and another song Stevie wrote is Ain't Gonna Give Up On Love💯🎸🎶‼️. Enjoy the best rabbit hole you can find💙

Those closing licks have to be the most beautiful guitar playing I’ve ever heard. Heard it so many times and it still brings tears to my eyes. The cameraman is the MVP for giving us that angle too. As the notes from his guitar fade, and the concert comes to an end. The end of an era as well. The capitol theatre would shut down not long after this. Making Stevie its last major performance. He gave them a hell of a show, one that every individual in that crowd would remember for the rest of their lives. No one but little Stevie

So there’s the music & there’s the man. You could just stop with the music but then listen to the message he was sharing. Why we love him. Now, since you appreciate the voice I will suggest (again 😂) do “Tin Pan Alley” live with Johnny Copeland. I believe this to be a masterpiece of a performance. No behind the back, but the voice and storytelling will knock you out. Great reaction ❤️

This is my favorite SRV song period. But this isn't really the best version of it. The version is from McNichols Arena, Nov. 29th 1989 that transcends into what I can only describe as a religious experience. The song became an intimate moment with the audience where Stevie speaks about being grateful that he survived his substance abuse, how he is sorry he had hurt so many around him that he loved and urged anyone struggling to seek help and get their lives straightened out. version can be heard on the extended cuts on the reissue of In Step. He is truly missed. "We will cherish what you have given us, and weep for the music left unplayed"

What I have noticed with every single reaction video is they never notice the guitar change in the beginning and the fact that he broke his tooth during that song. Just read his lips right after he plays with his teeth.

@Disfunkional TeeVee, whether you decide to react to it or not, you should check out Stevie and his older brother Jimmy Vaughan doing a song together called "Pipeline". They play it together on the same 12-string/6-string double neck guitar. Changing necks during the performance with Jimmy playing most of his part while reaching around from behind Stevie, actually doing it all by feel because he can't even see the neck he's playing on. It'll blow you away, I shit you not, and it can be found here on KZfaq. (Stevie Ray & Jimmy Vaughan: Pipeline-Live).

I'm old enough to have heard Jimi Hendrix, and everyone after. In my humble opinion, those two are 1 and 1a depending what side of bed you got up on.
