He continues the solo with a broken string and if you weren't watching, you wouldn't know. He waits till the break in the song, nods his head, and like a NASCAR pit crew his tech runs out and he's playing again before its even strapped up ❤

👏🙌‼️ how impressive was that switch out? Stevie gave his guitar techs so much experience with changing out guitars that they performed like a race car pit crew. Guys the only time I "listen" to Stevie Ray is in my car with cd's. His studio recordings are excellent, but with the exception of Riveria Paradise on the In Step album, you won't have a better experience than when you watch. His passion for performing for people is where most of the energy and magic lies. Keep going with the live performances✌️💙💙🎶

🎸Wonder no more why Stevie's legacy keeps growing. If anyone has has earned and deserves his place as a true Legend in music history, it is SRV. In an interview he quietly and simply said that his talent was as gift from God that he tried hard to repay. Paid in full, Stevie. Paid in full. 🙏🔥

Saw SRV all over Austin and San Marcos Texas for years and years. Only once did I see him off stage. He was dating a younger Lou Ann Barton, arm in arm walking across 6th Street. I was so star struck all I could say was "Hey what's up Stevie?" Hey looks over and beams a smile I suppose a wink and whatever he said I honestly am not sure but he was really happy and Lou Ann had this huge smile looking at him when he glances at me and said something friendly. I had seen or heard him outside of Cheatham St Warehouse so many times I shouldn't have been awestruck and tongue tied. Anyway. He was as nice as his reputation. Almost angelic in his aura. You'll read that elsewhere. He was truly the nicest guy in show business of the era I'll bet. Especially considering he was the most talented person of his era, he stayed kind and humble and down to Earth.

I love the respect you two show towards SRV and all of the other greats. I absolutely adore SRV and will not pass by any reaction to his music. He is much better live, but I do have a few of his studio albums. Strange thing, until about 4 years ago, I had never listened to blues. My husband had been after me to check out SRV. I am ashamed to say that I never wanted to listen to him before because I am a hard rocker. I finally watched one of his performances, Texas Flood/live, and was hooked on SRV. I missed out on so much great music because I was just stubborn. RIP SRV 🎸🎶

SRV live performance on any given performance. In live venues it felt even better. But we took it for granted seeing him so often. His warm up mic checks were the best. This man saved the blues He was one of a kind and I miss this man so much I was turned on to the blues when I was 14 years old in 1984 at a party Someone put a Muddy Waters album on and the rest is history Because I like all kinds of music but the blues is by far my favorite If you want to know more about SRV Watch VH1 The legends Its so good They tell the whole story of SRV’s life When Eric Clapton and BB King talk about SRV They said it will be a long time before you see someone with the talent he had Eric said most people have to think about the next note or cord to play But not Stevie He said that music just flows through him like an open channel and BB King said that that you will probably never see someone with this much talent again Coming from those two musicians That should tell everyone what they need to know about SRV RIP TO A LEGEND

Stevie Ray Vaughan owned 34 guitar's, Guitar Center bought Stevie Ray's guitar that he named #1 for $625,000 and they take it to their stores around the USA for display, it has the 13gage strings, they let people try to play it. Jimmie inherited Stevie Ray's estate, alot of his thing are at a music museum in Texas. Jimmie plays on alot of Stevie Ray's albums, whenever you hear 2 guitar's playing it's Jimmie Vaughan. Stevie Ray also plays the drums and Saxophone, Stevie Ray is playing drums on The Sky Is Crying album on the song The Sky Is Crying. Stevie Ray and Jimmie were working on an album called Family Style but Stevie Ray passed away before the could finish it, I still say Tic-Tock is sooo worth a listen, Stevie Ray has a powerful message and Jimmie has old home movies of Jimmie and Stevie when they were very little.

They definitely had those guitar switches down real smooth and fast. By the end of his career Stevie had about 5 or 6 guitars used in a single show, not counting backups. Different guitars for different songs. Most guitarists usually have at least a half dozen back stage. Most quite a few more than that. You should see Billy Gibbons guitar collection just for the shows alone. He is rumored to have hundreds, the biggest collection in the world. EVH probably had the most amps and Billy had the most guitars.

Studio? “The Sky Is Crying”, “Life By The Drop”, and with his brother Jimmie as The Vaughan Brothers “Telephone Song” he does his Hendrix tricks, “Tick Tock” is a modern soul classic written and introduced by Jimmie and sung by Stevie, and my favorite is “Long Way from Home”. Jimmie plays his world-class Fabulous Thunderbirds-style rhythm guitar and Stevie plays lead and sings. It’s fast but so hot that it actually speeds up while they’re playing.

Massive shout out to René Martinez his guitar tech. I saw an interview with Tab Benoit where he reached out to René asking him what kind of string lubricant he used on SRV's guitars (because Tab was breaking a ton of strings too). René told him he made up a lube using a lubricant mixed with graphite and it helped reduce (somewhat) the amount of strings that he broke. Tab then proceeded to make his own lubricant by mixing half and half 'Slick 50' and gear oil. Tab Benoit would be another great artist to check out, his live version of 'These Arms of Mine' is incredible.

Thank you for reacting to SRV songs deeper in the catalog than just Texas Flood and Voodoo Chili (Slight Return). He's absolutely amazing. I was lucky enough to see him live in 1989 in Columbus OH when eh split the ticket with Jeff Beck! A couple other blues requests for reactions- Jeff Healey-I Think I Love You Too Much he actually plays guitar and has a silky smooth blues voice. On this song he splits guitar work with Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. If you want a straight up BANGER-check out See The Light! Lesser known but considered one of the world's best blues guitarists is Eric Gales. He put out his first album in 1991 when he was only 17! I would recommend Resurrection, or High Anxiety(instrumental) or Sign of the Storm. The entire album rocks! He's had many great releases since then!

SRV’s playing was central to the groove of the song. Most front men simply “act” as if their playing is pertinent to the tune. They sort of wave at the guitar when in truth it’s more posing than anything else. Stevie plays the damn the damn thing, and the band fits around it. That what makes this quick and seamless transition to a second instrument so impressive. This guy did so many things right, paid his dues, overcame his own demons and played the hell out of it. Much love and respect to SRV and his technician. The fact that his backup axe was identically tuned and ready to go speaks to the amount of gig night preparation. I would wager they had another one ready to go if needed also.

Stevie Ray never failed to amaze me. He took a Larry Davis tune, "Texas Flood", and covered it so well that it defied description. Then, he took "Look at Little Sister", first recorded by Henry "Hank" Ballard and the Midnighters, and made it into this masterpiece. If you would care to hear Hank's original recording, here 'tis: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bcpnjNFj1cuVeHk.html. I'm 82 years old and Stevie Ray's talent still blows what little mind I have left.
