I saw SRV in concert and I was in a trance and my jaw was down to the floor through the whole concert. He was amazing.

I had the privilege of seeing this man 7 times in concert right up to his tragic death that profoundly left me broken 💔. This man without a doubt was and to me the greatest guitarist of all time. Nobody has EVER done to me, in leaving me in awe like him. Truly the guitar was just an extension of his soul! 🤟SRV

First couple of things, it was a helicopter crash after he left from opening for Eric Clapton and he was big in the 80's. Also, SRV did not read music and you'll notice his bass player watch where he is on the fret neck. Every time he played the same song, it was slightly different because he played from his heart and soul. Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger and many many blues artist all agreed that no one on this planet was better than SRV. Go down his rabbit hole, you won't be disappointed.

I saw him in Boston he entranced the audience,when he did some quiet picking that was beautifully delicate there wasn’t a sound in the theater. We tore the roof of when he finished. My god it was beautiful.

There are a lot of really good guitarists but only a few great ones. IMO Stevie was in the top 5 great ones. I had the opportunity to talk to someone who worked for him, he confirmed everything I had previously thought; he was a beast on stage & truly a kind, humble and gentle human being off stage. RIP Stevie Ray. Heaven got a good one the day they got you. You really should watch Texas Flood live from the El Mocombo & Life Without You from The Capitol Theater for starters. Enjoy Yourself!

Tin Pan Alley is another great piece from SRV, really anything he had played is top notch. Loved him, was my fave guitarist sadly never saw him live but have seen his brother live.

Stevie will always be #1 for me. His talent is out of this world! Then throw in the fact that he was an amazingly kind generous humble man. So very much missed 💔 Like most people will say watching Texas Flood live from El Mocambo is a must. Then from the same show, Little Wing. Life Without You live from the Capital Theater, but one of my personal favorites is his 1982 performance at The Montreux Jazz Festival before he & his band were famous. Dirty Pool is a very raw dirty blues song but Hide Away/Rude Mood is very cool as well. Stevie just oozes coolness in those performances. 😊

Check out studio version of Rivierra Paradise. It was the last studio track he recorded with his band. The story goes that as the last note was played the recording tape ran out. Nearly lost for posterity. This track still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

Stevie is one of the greatest for me. He never plays a song the same way and you can see he goes to another place to let the music flow out of him. Texas Flood is a standard and LIfe Without You, a tribute to a friend that passed.

My personal fav of SRV doing "Voodoo Child" is from Charity Show "Jerry's Kids". It's live from Nashville. The way he plays guitar behind his back is AWESOME!!!!! One other is when he and his brother Jimmie plays their song "Pipeline" together on double neck guitar. FABULOUS!!!!! Just a side note ... Did you know Steven Seagal owns one of SRV's original guitars? Got a chance to see him play a long time back in New Orleans and he is quite a unigue musician. Personally, I prefer Seagal's singing over his playing. If ever get a chance check out Seagal's song "Better Man".

For me, and a lot of experts that know WAAAAY more than I do, SRV is the GOAT. I would love to see AR react to more Stevie.

Mary Had a Little Lamb (and see how Stevie makes a child's nursery rhyme into the coolest jam ever), Couldn't Stand the Weather, Riviera Paradise (with a stunning keyboard solo by Reese Wynans), Cold Shot, Tightrope, Crossfire, and Look At Little Sister (watch for the smooth guitar switch). And a must-see is the performance of Tin Pan Alley with one of his idols, Johnny Copeland, live at the 1985 Montreux Jazz Festival. I LOVE THIS MAN!!

Gentlemen. I’m 67. Reside in the NW United States. I’m white. Female. I grew up on Jimi Hendrix. Stevie Ray is an angelic MASTER! It’s thrilling to see you, hearing this for the first time! Stevie Ray is the embodiment of Hendrix. And MORE. All of the live performances are amazing. It has only been since KZfaq, that those of us who knew him well from his “Albums/CDs, were able to see him”live”. The best was hearing him on CD with Good headphones, after a blunt. Seeing him later via KZfaq was, and is, as satisfying as the first time. Seeing you gentlemen equally amazed, is so fresh…like hearing it for the first time. You will always be amazed by anything he plays!

He is one of the greatest, and this is unbelievable cover of a Jimi Hendrix number, SRV had a unique style which many have tried to copy. Another amazing guitarist from this era is 'Robin Trower'.

Eric Clapton once said Stevie was the only one who could make him hang up his guitar. Stevie and his guitar were like one entity. Another thing is he was a really nice and humble guy in person. It was a great loss for Texas when he died. I actually could not stop crying that day. RIP Stevie I love and miss you greatly, Texas misses you.

Great reaction! SRV is a legend. I was in HS when he died in 1990. Wasn't into his music then but fell in love with it in last few years. For me SRV is THR G.O.A.T. No one else gives me goosebumps like Stevie. His guitar was connected to his soul and it flowed out of him.

EDIT: I just recalled his version of Look at Little Sister from this show as well, you'll be amazed with what goes on during and just after his solo toward the end. EDIT: He had the habit of regularly breaking 11- and 13-gauge strings as he played.

Whammy bar is attached to were the strings attach to the body, so it tightened and loosens the strings. The pedal does the "Wah wah" sound as well as others

Stevie Ray is my personal favorite guitar player. In my own opinion, he was the best ever. Hendrix, Clapton, Gilmour, Santana and of course Eddie Van Halen, rank high in my personal opinion so that picking one as the greatest of all time is difficult. Faced with making such a choice, to me yes, Stevie Ray Vaughan is it. He mainly played Blues, but as we all see here, he could play with the best and still shine. Blues, however, is where he spent much of his time and talent. He loved Hendrix. His version of "Little Wing" at the El Mocambo in Toronto, Canada is a personal favorite. But his Blues hits include many gems. "Ain't Gone 'n Given Up On Love", "The Sky is Cryin' ", and "Texas Flood" are all great and worth watching. His song, "Life Without You" especially from the Capital Theater concert is fantastic. But you can't really go wrong with most any of his shows. They were ALL great.

Watch SRV play Lenny Live. I've been playing guitar for about 20 years. I've seen a lot of guitarists in my time. Study many, attempted many genres and listed to a lot of music. Everyone in my family plays guitar..... SRV is PHENOMENAL. Beyond phenomenal. There are very few musicians that can achieve this level of skill within their craft and connection to the music being played within the moment like he was able to. A true conduit for expression. SRV never played a song the same way twice. He was going off the top most of the time... he had parts in song to make sure he'd hit to set landmarks for the band, so there was some structure, but he would just go off on his own every time... so props to Double Trouble for being able to hang with a guy like SRV.

Saw the OUTSTANDING SRV 'In Concert' on June 27, 1990 in Noblesville, IN; two months before that tragic plane crash when he and 'Double Trouble' opened for Joe Cocker...Such a once in a lifetime experience with stupendously gargantuan artist just beginning to hit the 'Big Time' opening with Eric Clapton and Cocker among others on the Tour Schedule at the time. We played his music SPECIAL every Sunday night at a local 'Chicago Pizza' Restaurant and Bar I waited tables for while in college...And, the folks from everywhere lined-up waiting to enter for the food and the tunes from after returning from summer weekends at the lakes up north to get back to work on the following Monday. WE ROCKED THE HOUSE ALL NIGHT LONG WITH STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN...THE ONE AND ONLY who played with tape over his finger tips when they became bloody in the seeming infinity of his genre. SRV MADE TOOK EMPTY SUNDAY NIGHTS INTO THE BEST TIP NIGHT OF THE WHOLE WEEK...GREAT TIMES AND MEMORIES. 'Look At Little Sister' always brought all the ladies to their feet with a cocktail in their hands begging their men to raise up and dance with them.

I highly recommend Life Without You live at the Capital Theater. Stevie wrote it for his friend Charlie when he passed away & a line of the song is on his gravestone. He speaks to the crowd mid song & plays with his teeth. Amazing performance.

Hey guys, Kathy here - Love me so SRV. Gone way to soon. Can you imagine if he had lived and the music he would have put out?? Have you checked out his song, Look at Little Sister. It is amazing. And there is a smooth guitar change in the middle of the song, when he broke a string. He had an amazing crew on the state with him. The Foot pedal is called a Wah-pedal, and the one he is using actually is from Jimmie Hendrix's family allowing his to use it. This is a classic from Hendrix, that SRV made his own. I live in Texas. 2 months ago Jimmy Vaughn, Stevie's little brother who played with him often toured through East Texas. He plays a lot like him big brother. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back in time to see this performance live. RIP Stevie Ray Vaughn. Another great performance is Floodin Down In Texas. He was Amazing and self taught. Guys, I just want to say how much I've enjoyed your reaction videos, especially when it's the music I grew up listening to ...1960's and 1970's Rock (I'm 64 now). I recommend listening to Jimi Hendrix's original version of Voodoo Chile, in particular his performance at the Monterrey Pop Festival from 1967.

Stevie Ray Vaughn was incredible guitar player. There's a 14 year old guitar phenom Taj Farrant that even has a bit of a Stevie Ray Vaughn look about him. He's actually doing a Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute show on December 29th in Austin Texas. They are selling livestream tickets to the show as well. His fans say he's Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gary Moore and Jimmy reincarnated. He's touring the US now. The kid had 2 of his own songs at #1 on the iTunes blues charts. It would be fun to see what you think of him. I suggest any recent show video footage from his current tour. Maybe Red House, The Sky is Crying, Jimmy Hendrix's Little Wing or he is great playing Gary Moore's ParisienneWalkways. There's a reason Prince's musical director/keyboard player went to see him and highly recommended for everyone to check out his show. I started watching his videos a few years ago and can say I believe he's going to be on the top of the guitar players list in the future.

Another guitarist: Terry Kath who passed away in 1978 right before his 32nd birthday from an accidental gunshot wound. A founding member of Chicago in the mid 1960's his band toured with Jimi Hendrix for a year. They were planning to record together and were in awe of each other. Jiminy came across them in LA at the 'Whiskey A GoGo.' He told them their horn players were like one set of lungs and your guitar player is better than me. One of his best solos is a song called 25 or 6 to 4 (a reference to a song writer and the time of day early in the morning) live in Tanglewood. The day he died he was to start rehearsing with his new band which had no horns. A sample of what was to be on his solo album is on the last Chicago album he recorded with them called 'Taking It On Uptown.' He sang as well and had a baritone voice like Ray Charles or Joe Cocker. He had been invited by Ray and Joe to record with them. Too bad he and Stevie never met. They would have enjoyed each other. I saw SRV in Austin once. I saw Terry Kath in 1974 in San Antonio, Dallas in 1975 with the Beach Boys and in Austin in 1976 Sunday Break II with Fleetwood Mac, The Band, England Dan and John Ford Coley, Firefall and The Steve Miller Band.

This is hands down my favourite of his live performances of this song! Those distortions you're hearing are from Jimi Hendrix' own wah-wah pedals, which Jimi's father gifted him when Stevie asked his permission - in person - to cover Jimi's songs. Jimi gave us the song, but Stevie made it his own. Never heard that done better. 😊 Edit: I forgot to mention how amazing it is that he not only plays and sings, but also keeps constant track of of all the distortion equipment and adjusts things on the fly (like when he bends down once or twice) without even missing a beat. And to top it all off, all his live performances were freestyle. He never played anything the same way twice, but did everything by ear and feeling, because he never learned to read music. His awesome band Double Trouble was incredibly attuned to him, and able to follow wherever he went with each improvisation,, which I find amazing! So, when people request a reaction to one certain performance at one certain venue, that's why. All his performances are amazing, but each one is different, and everybody has particular favourites for each song. Anyway, thanks for an amazing review.
