I love that you can hear him saying "ahhhhh" throughout. He definitely felt the music he played. Best guitar player ever for me.

I love that. He would do it often on live performances but I swear that throughout the studio version of Texas flood, every once in a while when the guitar stops for like a second, I swear I can hear him in the distance going “ahhhhh” and that is just sooooo beautiful to me cause I could just picture him in the studio still feeling it in his soul

@@justindenson6842 also, on the capitol theater version of “ain’t gone n give up on love” there’s a part where he hits this lick in the opening solo, and as the camera is zooming into his guitar, you can see his mouth open, and you can barely hear him once again going “ahhhhh”

I do agree with you but He was pretty well know around Texas before he recorded Texas Flood especially in Austin. I’m willing to bet a lot of those people in the audience used to watch Stevie when he was playing small clubs around Austin.

Greatest guitarist ever, and fabulous blues singing voice. What I love about SRV songs is he sings very clearly. You can hear every word of the song. He does not mumble or swallow his words. He projects his voice and words of a song outwards. Terrible tragedy he died when he was at the top of his game musically and personally, clean from his addictions. He was always great, but became even better after rehab. If he had lived, I have no doubt he would have been a super star and been around, at the top fir a very long time until a ripe old age. Like Clapton. I liked Jimi Hendrix and Clapton both a lot, but SRV is for more electrifying when he sings and plays his guitar. He’s extremely powerful. It’s like he’s on fire. He’s a true legend.

He cudv been another Elvis...strange comparison wen i say it but both humble, EXTREMELY versitile, unique style, crossed genres, loved by all who met them, always striving to improve and NEVER forgot where they come from....only difference...Stevie was killed way too early ❣🤘🏻🙏 SRV was a channeller of music as Elvis was with his voice...both hit u in ways u just cant articulate

Stevie was just good at EVERYTHING. Such incredible control. Who would have thought he could have such a light touch when he wanted to as well with those vice grip fingers. He always had one more trick up his sleeve, a little more gas in the tank when it came to his guitar playing. It NEVER got boring, which lets be honest.. sometimes blues guitar does. Absolute legend.

and from what I've seen and heard he was a sweet person, yes he had issues, fame I'm guessing would have been one of them, absolutely one of the truest, best? yeah maybe but definitely, DEFINITELY, UNARGUABLY one of the most heart felt, from the soul, like so many others, no matter there exceedingly great talent that have passed as of late were one of a kind PERIOD, and very sadly missed. THANK YOU SRV!

I have the dvd of his concert in Tokyo, January 1985. When he plays Tin Pan Alley he changes to Dirty Pool! He just turns to Chris and Tommy and yells “Dirty Pool”! He plays some really good sloooow blues in that concert! He really blasts Texas Flood too! In the intro of the song he makes a little mistake and you can hear him go, “Haha” which makes Tommy turn and look kinda like huh?! He sings with such force on it too! It’s before he got clean but it’s a fantastic concert! eBay has a few of them for sale. If you haven’t watched it I highly recommend it! Oh, the whole concert is here on KZfaq too, but I prefer to watch the dvd on my big tv so you don’t get any annoying ads pop up in the middle of solo he’s doing!

I don’t think he felt comfortable on the first ACL show…. He looks uptight and things didn’t flow during the whole set. This is still great, but he topped it 1000 times over.
@csi2448
@csi2448 2 жыл бұрын
ACL is about as big as it gets for Texas born artists. Producer Terry Lickona said Stevie was BIG time nervous. He probably hit the bottle a little extra because of it too. The 1989 performance easily tops it though. No drugs or alcohol and he was just hitting his stride as a player, singer, and artist
