I'm a big fan of Soul music, but many Burt Bacharach compositions have always chilled me to the bone (in a good way!), particularly the early collaborations with Dionne Warwick - and "Any Day Now" by Chuck Jackson.

What Stevie does at around 2:55 earned him his genius stripes, if he did not already have them, at that point! I am otherwise speechless!

Stevie and Toots Thielemans are just the most wonderful harmonica players. None come near them for the emotion conveyed by their beautiful playing. Check Toots playing the John Barry theme for Midnight Cowboy. These pepole are geniuses!

Bachrach/David got their start in the late '50's, early '60's writing what I consider to be state-of-the art R'n'B at the time ("Any Day Now," "Baby It's You," "Don't Make Me Over"), so one can only imagine what Burt thought, the first time he heard Wonder, the Motown house arrangers, some strings from the Detroit Symphony, and the Funk Bros. rhythm section, present their version of this, his masterpiece. Look at his face: He's been (aesthetically) immortalized, and he knows it. **BlackMonk66 I'm sure he loved this version. After all, the man knew music, but the reason he's above 98% of songwriters is that it was just another nice version of one of his songs. After you've had Dionne Warwick and Dusty Springfield record several of your songs, been covered by The Beatles, and just accomplished what he did in general, there's no room to become even more immortal.
