Talking Book, Innvervisions, Fulfillingness First Finale and then Songs in the Key of Life are simply 4 of the greatest albums ever created and he did them virtually one right after the other. I am very grateful to have been able to experience them as a young teen.

I like your style young man! FYI.. This song (Living for the City) won the Grammy for "Best R&B Song" (74). This album (Innervisions) won "Album of the Year" and is universally recognized as a masterpiece. I personally think it's the greatest album ever made. Stevie wrote, song, produced, and played every instrument on the album.

Stevie's masterpiece. He was just 23 when this came out in 1973 and had begun his evolution as an artist on his own, away from Motown. The brilliant album this came from, "Innervisions," was the first of his three straight Grammy winners for "Album of the Year. Stevie couldn't be stopped once he got rolling.

Already being in awe of Stevie since his 'Little' days, I was growing increasingly flabbergasted by the depth and scope of his musical and lyrical artistry by the time this album came out. My fave FM station played the whole album start to finish as mind-blowing as it was/is, this song, most especially that descending chordal motif with the melody floating atop it just spun my head around a few times, okay, a bunch of times. Used to love playing it years later too, solo on acoustic or with my rock trio. Otherworldly, man. 🌌😘🤙🏼🎶❤️✨️🕊

I am a rock and roll guy, but I could live on Funk, R&B, and Soul from the '60's and 70's. In addition to Stevie, you could listen to Sly and the Family Stone, Sam and Dave, and Aretha Franklin. There are many more, but those are a good place to start.

Wonder played all the instruments on the song and ALL the vocals. He was assisted by Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff for recording engineering and synthesizer programming AFTER Stevie recorded everything himself. For live stage performances Stevie used, Fender Rhodes, drums, Moog bass, T.O.N.T.O. synthesizer, handclaps, Calvin Hardaway (Wonder's brother); Ira Tucker Jr.; a New York police officer; attorney Jonathan Vigoda - other voices
