Hey I was thinking of buying these for when I have replaced controller sticks but they arn't perfectly centered. So I would use them to make my repair perfectly centered instead of it centering broken potentiometers. Do you think I could use them like this? Just for a few millimeters offcenter with new sticks with new pote potentiometers?

Putting new potentiometer won’t be calibrated. So this product is better unless you buy both

The only way the potentiometer get damage is by dropong on the floor rage hits don't clean the controller or pull the joystick hard this is usefull for drift

​@@TheGamer2Know I don't get it. Doesn't this just moves the values toward the center values, basically? Or does this do more? Wouldn't it make sense to just clean the contacts on the joyticks? If you want to solder you could just replace the whole joystick as well. This seems like an overcomplicated bandaid on the problem.

@@aspicboat yea it pretty much just calibrates the joystick to the center when it’s out of alignment and cause drift. You could clean the wipers and resistance pad but that doesn’t always work. Removing and soldering full joystick module is a lot of work and you have to buy parts, the advantage this has is you can recalibrate the joystick if drifting happens again down the road. If you install these on both sticks you don’t have to worry about drift any more since you can recalibrate it. I think it’s a pretty cool little gadget😎

​@Gamer2Know it's barely any extra work to replace the potentiometers and plus, if you're buying this device, it's the equivalent of buying replacement analog sticks and or potentiometers so it doesn't make sense to use this since you're going to get drift again and way no matter what to date point that the conductive material will completely wear out and if the drift is severe, this device can limit how far the analog stick reaches in value and the way it registers in the game. Buying new sticks or potentiometers is better since it pretty much makes it brand new

So instead of using it to "repair* a broken one I want to use it to callibrate newly installed sticks with new potentiometers. This way I wouldnt have to change potentiometers if the new ones are a little of center and if I repair for other people they could potentially use this pcb in tje future if it ever starts drifting because I want to instal this for every repair with new sticks if this works. What do you think is this logical?

@@ChummyBoy it's honestly pretty easy even though it can look complicated. Just need a screwdriver and a soldering iron. Unscrew the controller and pop off the back. The battery pack will have a couple latches on the side that you pop open. Pull out the battery, solder the wires connecting the the controller to the motherboard at the connection spot on the board, gonna be two wires on both sides next to the handle. Pull it out, and it should have the analog sticks on it. There's some soldering pins behind the analog stick on the back of the board, just solder those to heat em up and you can pull the analog stick off. If you have a hot air gun, you can just heat them up after you solder them until the analog just falls off on its own. There's a suction pump for soldering that you should suck up the remaining metal from the holes. Just use the iron to melt the pin metal if it won't get up. Clean both sides of the board where the new analog goes. Pop in the new one and iron the pins down. Let it cool off and them reassemble the controller and your done. A new controller costs 60-70 bucks but you can get all the tools necessary for like 50 bucks(can go cheaper but reliable tools are a must in my opinion) and after that you just pay for the analog replacements which is between 5-10 bucks. Definitely cheaper upfront and way cheaper down the road. Even for someone who doesn't have any soldering experience, it's super easy to do. @@LordLazy it will last longer than a few months, I've had controllers that have lasted for 2 years with regular usage.

Just replace the potentiometers or simply clean them, it's much simpler and cheaper, official replace analog sticks are 2‐3 dollars on mouser and a simple beginner soldering kit is like 20 bucks. Not only will you save a lot of money but you'll also be able to learn soldering skills through this which can be really helpful in the future
