I have always liked a few SLF songs but only recently got into their whole catalogue. Can't believe all the years I could have been listening to this, a wasted life! Best punk band ever, thats from a lifeling Ramones, Clash and Jam fan. As a southern Irish person with an absolute hatred of sectarianism, this music connects with the passion in my heart. Seeing them live for the first time in a few weeks. Can't wait!!!!!

The power and intensity of the music and Jake’s “gargling with razor blades” singing voice make for some of the greatest rock and roll music that has ever been produced !!!!

What can anyone say about Johnny Was? For a teenage band to take that song and do what they did with it is incredible. That is, for me, the pinnacle of what punk could be. BTW, who put the dislike....? Feargal Sharkey?

This isnt just music. This is a prophetic message in that time. Jake Burns with all his talent could have been doing some commercial junk. Instead he and the band challenged all the political and social ills. They absolutely nailed it with top lyrics and top music. And at such a young age. Other bands like the Clash were great but they were older had more commercial backup and had much more time. SLF did everything at a young age over limited time and I suppose on a limited budget. Correct me if I m wrong. Anyway just check out all the lyrics. Blows you away. Ok better stop now.

The brother of drummer Jim Reilly, a guy called Kidso Reilly, was shot dead by a British soldier in 1988. He was visiting family in Belfast. He was also road manager for all girl pop group Bananarama. The soldier shot him for no reason and was charged with murder.
@dougsmith70833 жыл бұрын
Incredibly talented musicians. And, Jake was a smokin guitar player at the time of this performance but, he didn't stop working on his playing and, getting better and better over time. He's an extremely underrated guitar player IMO. He's doing a helluva lot of the heavy lifting during the live performances (lead vocals, lead guitar, nuanced guitar accents, master of ceremonies, etc... A fucking Champion
