The plaintiff sold some furniture to the defendant, and they agreed the defendant would pay half up front and the other half up to 60 days later. The plaintiff says he hasn’t received the rest of the money, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the furniture had scratches on it and was falling apart. He doesn’t think he owes.

@rosej5029 🤷🏾‍♂️ So basically you texted all that to say that you only buy your shit from reputable businesses and retailers. I’m the same way especially when it comes to anything automobile related. And I’ve also gotten to the point where whenever I impulse shop or am in any way unsure about my purchase, I’ll use cash. Even when there’s a clear return or exchange policy, I’ve been been in a situation where a merchant either took too long to refund my purchase back to a credit card after a return or it’s been held for over 30 plus days. I use to have a job that req’d me to travel a great deal and I use to have to swipe my personal credit card for incidentals whenever checking into a hotel and some of those places would hold my deposit for over a month. I found that even if the room is reserved with a company card, a guests’ personal credit card is sometimes used to cover the incidentals; Talk about a huge inconvenience. Lastly, always stay 10 steps ahead of hotel companies because some places have unwritten or not clearly posted policies for their guests. That said, whenever possible have a special card or other form of payment reserved exclusively for travel. I once booked a hotel room through Expedia for personal travel and inquired about a pet policy beforehand. Ended up walking my dog right after a shift change and the night manager tried to charge me for traveling with a pet after the fact. Called me to the desk and started explaining herself while simultaneously opening my guest file to charge the card on file. I let her finish her conversation and politely walked back to my room. I figured out what she attempting to do beforehand and had locked my credit card. By the time she realized I was already back in my room. Received about a million alerts from the bank that night because she kept trying to run my card. I was able to lock one card for the duration of my stay without being inconvenienced because another one was being used for expenses; FIXED HER SNEAKY ASS 😂

In my opinion, I don't believe the plaintiff intended any disrespect by addressing the judge as 'miss.' I find it a bit of a stretch to equate it with something like 'buddy.' Nervousness is common in a courtroom setting, particularly on national television, and people may not always choose their words perfectly. While I understand the importance of courtroom etiquette, it's a learning opportunity for everyone involved.

@@Catloudan I think it often comes down to a person's upbringing. Personally, being from the South, I tend to use 'ma'am' quite frequently. I've noticed that even Judge Milian doesn't prefer that form of address and has shown frustration when litigants use it. However, I don't see anything inappropriate about 'miss,' 'mister,' 'ma'am,' or 'sir.' If she wishes to correct how she's addressed, that's understandable, but I believe it can be done in a way that is respectful and not confrontational.

I believe the defendant accepted the display furniture but with stipulations that the damage would be repaired so he gets a lower cost. He said himself he was supposed to repair it. If it was supposed to be brand new as he claiming now. Why would he accept repairs. The plaintiff should've did paperwork better and took pictures after. The defendant accepted it back so called damaged again and he should pay for it. He could've refused it. Fair judgement the plaintiff wasn't being shady the defendant was trying to get out of paying. The look at the end was of embarrassment because he still have to pay half.

The defendant say it's not what they ordered but technically it is because it's used furniture so they didn't order anything. There's just to many people out there trying to get something brand new at used prices, it doesn't work like that. If you don't want used furniture, don't go to a used furniture store.

JM is right, these two really deserve each other. Because the plaintiff was definitely trying to pass off used furniture as new, his little "Business card" comment made that very clear. That's a shifty way of answering if I've ever heard it. There are tons of reputable people who deal in used furniture, and it's always very clear on the contracts that you're getting USED furniture. The very reason the plaintiff kept agreeing to fix it is because he knew he tried to pass it off as new. People who sell used furniture to people who KNOW they bought used furniture don't go out of their way to fix it two or three times. They say, "You bought used furniture, you get what you get." That's the very reason why the plaintiff doesn't itemize his wares, because the differences in price would make someone's alarm bells go off that something is used vs. new and he doesn't want them to be able to tell. On the flip side, the defendant was trying to get ALL the furniture he purchased for half price just because a few items were damaged. He was basically trying to get out of paying the entire second half of his contract because some items that were a fourth or a fifth of the value of the contract were damaged. JM said it, an UPSTANDING person would have said, "Come take back the table, chairs, and server, and tell me what I owe you for the stuff I'm keeping," but he was trying to get something for nothing. Really, a USED dining room table, chairs, and a server are not worth $1000, but that's on the plaintiff for being shady. This is the case of a shady dealer and his shady customer, and they both ended up losing something in the end, which is exactly what they deserve.

"Miss" is disrespectful, so is Ma'am actually, when addressing an officer of the court. It should be "Your honor" or even just "Judge" is fine. "Miss" is used when referring to a young woman (not in court), but sometimes the tone of the person implies disrespect. Judge Milian seems to be more flexible with the ma'am greeting, UNLESS the person addressing her is acting misogynistic, lol. Then all hell breaks loose. :)

Man oh man Harvey asked some dumb questions... Is it a risk to buy used furniture.,yikes!!! I have nothing but used furniture, I repair it fix it as needed , today's furniture from big box stores is all crap. The older the better, and I mean built in Canada or the US or France ,hell Germany and from the 1950s to 70s is the way to get quality furniture. And mostly for next to nothing, I also accept free Kijiji furniture, the trick is to know what you are looking at, bedbugs are the most important thing on my list to look for, roaches too.😬

Buddy is not the male equivalent to Miss. calm down. JM wouldn’t last two seconds in the south. Judge Stephanie Boyd a felony court judge in Texas gets called miss often and doesn’t take offense to it since she’s not a child and knows many use Miss as a sign of respect. “Buddy” 🙄Is not anywhere. Mister would probably be the closet.

First your a judge on a tv show get over being called miss and not your honor all the time, get a real courtroom for that and second she needs to let the other people give their testimony, if you want people to respect you enough to call you judge then show them respect and act like a real judge because in a real courtroom the judge doesn't talk the entire time and then yell at you for giving an answer!

@@lukerinderknecht2982you might need to look up the definition of the word miss. Never mind, did it for you. Miss (pronounced /ˈmɪs/) is an English language honorific typically used for a girl, for an unmarried woman (when not using another title such as "Doctor" or "Dame"), or for a married woman retaining her maiden name. She can not like the word and prefer to be referred to by her title. But to act like it's an insult is pure Karen energy.
