I'm a husky man through and through, I run a stihl ms461 for my firewood and we run 2 7910 makitas at work. If I could only choose one, it'd be the makita all day long. Extremely underated saw.

I got a 64cc makita/dolmar that's 15 yrs old that's cut a shit load of wood. I just keep it clean and fuel system empty when not in use. Changed air filter once. Most consistent reliable saw I have had out of many. Just ordered a 78cc one. I am actually a husqy and stihl fan boy for all our other 2 stroke gear! Also why is the 79cc 2 stroke not in the makita concrete saw!!!!!

My 357xp and my ms362 run neck n neck with both running 20"bars and full skip Oregon chains. My little backwoods chainsaw dealer was talking these makitas up....$400 for a comparable saw isn't bad

I have an 066 with a top end Hyway rebuild. Ran just about the same as yours for 3 years, Then she quit on me. Washed it up stripped it down, replaced crank seals, all hoses, Meteor top end and carb rebuild. The saw is amazing now bits wood like a Badger. I guess when your girl is not the same, take her to town and have a professional do a make over - you'll be pleased.

I've owned two Stihl and a second hand Hasky, they're good but the Makita is more reliable and very well made.

@@KimballCody Try more like a steal! That's an $850+ chainsaw. No pawn shop is going to sell a nice used 7900 for $300. Unless it's a parts saw Try $600 or more. Those guys are very sharp on what stuff is worth. I quit going to pawn shops because their to expensive. I search Craigslist and market place for saws and nobody is selling their $900 saw 5 or 600 less then a new one sells for. Unless is junk. Home depot can sell them on the cheap side because they've made a small fortune off them renting them out.

I work as a tree cutter or a logger, and currently I am using the 660 stihl, and it's a fair bit faster than this one that you are using.
@KW-cq4yr6 жыл бұрын
In this video is this a true stihl ms660 or the China clone one posted in another video of yours? I am just wondering because if it’s the clone would it be a fair comparison to the other chainsaws. How is the China clones holding up? I know we have a ms661 at work and you can just put the weight of saw on a log and it cuts like a hot knife in butter.

Got a question man, about too buy the Farm boss from Stihl or the similar Farm saw from makita. Which company would you go for over all. Big difference in price but if it’s worth it is what I’m asking you. Makita or stihl thanks man
@KimballCody5 жыл бұрын
Makita. 6400/7900. Solid saw. Easy to work on and itll run forever. The makita 6100 is also good. They are magnesium case where as the stihl are plastic cases
@shelbywilson1144 жыл бұрын
I second the dolmar. I have a 6100 I bought last year and have sawed around 15 full cords of wood without one problem. It runs excellent
@charlesbourgeois90294 жыл бұрын
6100 or 6400 hundred for sure over farm boss! Stihl has better saws in that size. Makita is cheaper if you compare it to best 60-65cc stihl and is the more reliable saw! Maintenance is harder on the stihls!!!
@troopygino4 жыл бұрын
stihl have really gone down hill since the 90s, cheap china junk, yea the saws are powerful but cant see them lasting many years like their old counterparts would. Same with husky but more so with stihl I think. This is why im gonna go for a makita 7900, heard many positive things about makita chainsaws past few years!

[660 Hyway]Is that regular/flat-top, or the pop-up, variety? Did you happen to notice if 56mm Hyway comb.chambers are under-sized like most/all other 56mm 660 jugs? Farmertec's 56mm's are smaller-than regular 54mm chambers, the NewJ's 56mm chambers are still smaller than a 54mm but barely... LOVE this, of course, but saddened that most are unaware and falsely conclude "no way I can get decent compression, cuz they're already near-freeport ergo no real changes to squish-or-compression" but reality is you can, of course, achieve both (took me 3 jugs, lol, so am glad that I only went w/ Hyway for my 1st, though that was a 54mm and was/is-still a pop-up setup that's thumping strong today) Re the knots...no, not even long time botany dorks put together the old-branch//knot correlation as cleanly as you imply it (are knots almost exclusively from branch collar unions? WTH I literally read all relevant ISA chapters on that this past year, lol, how on earth is there no mention of that...maybe it's mentioned somewhere I didn't catch, most/all insight on that was Re compression&tension in wood) And yeah they make test-cut reliability go out the window, I had been using cut-speed as an at-home measurement, just for my own insight (knowing I can't share the info because it's too-far from accurate), and found it to be unreliable even for that, the chain/wood/seasonal-hydrology lol I could name a dozen factors, all throw it off...I gave up, but certainly commend/respect you for doing such testing here, really would love to get my hands on a 7900 but can't fathom a scenario of that happening, zero use/reason for it... A+ / subscribed!
