Great video Nathan 👍🏼 Really enjoyed the background video montage. I’m stuck in a work contract until spring/summer 2024 so I’m enjoying buying tools now and building knowledge as and when I can until I can start gardening/pressure washing/gutter cleaning full time. Knew early on I wanted to go down the battery tool route and have focused buying into the Stihl AP range, only slight deviation is I’m swung towards the EGO mowers.

Me and Mike much prefer using the battery equipment. Same here mate with the casing. Had to wrap insulation tape round mine. I've ordered a new cover. Yes, crap gets in so we clean out regularly. On the whole the battery equipment is much cheaper to run and better on the body. No tool is perfect. I definitely recommend having both to choose from. Good to get an objective review, yeah I've gone through two so far. First one my fault as forgot to grease it for awhile (doh!) lasted 2 yrs. 2nd one 20months old was overheating on a large macrocarpa conifer hedge and then just as I stopped for the day, and walking back I saw one missed piece then hit something hard and it stopped with 3 flashing lights(trimmer prob) so I may have buggered the motor? Motor not quite strong enough for the robust stuff over time imo. Going to the shop today. yeah that housing is rubbish. the plastic is crap plastic and goes brittle and then the bolts go through. Also at the bottom of the blades is a hole that opens and closes outside the housing when the trimmer is going which helps shuttles debri straight into the trimmer which isn't ideal.

Someone been playing with there new green screen? I've got a bit of battery stuff. I went down the EGO route. The strimmer. Absolutely love it. I've also got a combi thing going on which has a long reach hedge cutter attachment. Which, as you say. Is good for shaping rather than reduction. I've also got the power brush attachment. Which is great. But a tad heavy. I'd like to get a mower. But I just don't think battery is there yet for commercial mowing. Plus. If rumours are to be believed, we can expect the price of batteries to rocket over the next 12 months.

The only issue I've got with my 66 is when using it if I stop for more than 10 minutes then pick it up again its totally dead so I have to pop the battery out then reinsert and its then absolutely fine. If I stop for just a few minutes the problem doesn't happen, it's almost like after 10 minutes the machine doesn't recognise it has a battery in it but once reinserted it's good to go again. Any suggestions?? Many thanks Gary (GB Gardening). Ps keep the great videos coming.

@@LewisgardenservicesLtd It was the micro switch. I mangled it when I took the old Bowden cable out. I completely loosened the hinge for the cutting head to take the cover off. There is a space in the hinge metal to allow that metal switch lever to spring out and turn the electrics off when the machine is folded. It got caught when I tightened up the hinge because the hedgecutter was in the operating position. Amateur 😁. I watched your 'how to fix' video beforehand. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated. Love this machine, though I would pay a bit more for a heavier duty version, they class this as professional, I'd say it was semi professional. Hi mate went for the Stihl 443vc in the end not recieved it yet but as we had the batteries and chargers for the HLA 66 thought maybe worth a try not to sure about the 36v and it being enough for tough long wet grass but will have to see, did go to a local garden machinery place but they olny seemed interested in pushing the 18v milwaukee they had just got in and had a load of the gear on display maybe im wrong but as I had concerns with the 36v I couldnt get my head round a 18v system being powerfull enough, Battery stuff is still so new in the UK its hard to find it and be able to try it out@@LewisgardenservicesLtd

Never used the 56 but possibly may not be up to pro use, not so much the trimming just the wear and tear aspects of it being used regularly. Depends on how much you use and how well you take care of kit I guess. Me personally I wouldn't drop down from the 66. Happy decision making 😅 good luck

Yea, similar to DeWalt stuff etc and other established tool brands that have moved into garden tools. They've been in the battery gear way longer than Stihl etc. Thanks for watching 👍

Hopefully, you can make them as safe as you think but if you're going to mess up and get into trouble with one you will no matter how many switches they have. Think the pro gear needs less actually as we should know what we're doing with them🤔👍
