I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzfaq.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

The best part is the one between 4:30 and 4:56 when you only hear the chainsaw engine without that horrible so-called music.

You probably have a mute button on your tablet, phone or computer....not sure why you just wouldn't mute it

Kevin Shea I typically don’t have to do something like that for videos I’m watching. The better lesson to be learned here would be not to use terrible music in your videos. There’s plenty of comments suggesting the same thing.

@@flustercluck8603 simple solution, if you don't like the music turn off the volume. Why would someone get to the point of something being unwatchable when they can't just mute it. Yeah..I understand you "typically" don't do that.

B.S. ms180 does not start up like that. Probably flooded it a dozen times before getting it to “start right up” lol

I can relate to that. They are quite sensitive to "flooding". After 6 months of ownership and heavy usage still runs like a champ🏁😎

Paul Paul as far as I know the 1xx series is only made by Stihl in China. I really love this saw. Good build runs like a champ. Besides the little one, I own the 280, 461,660 and will soon add the 500i.

Ja je imam već dve godine, sam sečem svoja drva, od obaranja do cepanja, sad sam kupio MS 310, iz prostog razloga jer ovu izgleda previše napnem pa mi pravi probleme, imam i klip o tome ovde na YT. MS 310 ne staje i ne pita šta sečeš ali zato posle ne možeš supu jesti, a 180 za grane dušu dala, lagana, lako se okreće, kad je dobro naoštrena kida.

Well, you already did 2 upgrades, Upgraded the bar, cause the one that comes with the ms180 is 0.043” , and yours is 0.05” Second upgrade is the bumper spikes, it doesn’t come in the box. Am I right?

You're right sir, though for some reason my 180 came with the 0,05'' bar as standard. My local dealer told me he had this one in stock. The bumper spikes were extra. I bought the saw in Slovenia.

Can you please tell me if ms 180 has significant difference with ms 170? or almost the same horsepower ? because 180 is more expensive.

I had the same dilemma! So the MS 180 has 0,3HP more in comparison to the 170 (1,9HP vs 1,6HP) and the chain is also different. The 180 has a 3/8" 1,3 vs 3/8" 1,1 . I would personally go with the 180. Hope this hepls sir.

Why, it says stihl, even though it isn't high quality, like a ms311, it is still made to stihl specs, and in a stihl certified factory, and sold by a certified stihl dealer. So by no means is this saw to be considered a non stihl saw.

This is the real Stihl. The 170 and 180 are made by Stihl in China. You will fall in love with this saw it is such a versatile tool. 👌👍

This saw is for home owner use and is made in China ,the only way China would work with stihl was if they built a plant in China ,ms 170,180

It does work fine for the work it is designed for. I use it around the house. For other applications I use the 280, 461 and 660.

Did you have to buy the additional bumper spike and how much difference does it make to the one on the casing?

OEM stihl bumper spike is part number 1123 664 0501 it about 4 dollars. Then you need 2 course thread bolts and I'm sorry I don't know exact part number on those but any dealer should have them in stock and be able to look then up or bring your saw with to match up. It's a course thread screw that taps it's own threads into the plastic hole. I believe it's an m5x16 course thread make sure you get the OEM stihl fasters they are very cheap like 50 cents

it is made by Stihl in China. So far so good I would say. The product is well made, but there is a difference with the Stihl produced in Germany.
