Whether it’s reducing noise or improving the cutting performance, here at STIHL we’re always looking for ways to improve our machines. In this video, we’ll take a look at the STIHL MS 261 C-M, the MS 271 and the new chainsaw bars and chains that deliver up to 20% faster cutting performance and a lighter weight.
The new Light 04 guide bar has been designed to fit both machines and is a taste of what’s to come for new chainsaw bar designs from STIHL too. This new guide bar improves balance and the lighter weight improves manoeuvrability, plus the slimmer contour and bar nose helps plunge cutting capability too, which is particularly useful in forestry applications. The new chainsaw bar comes in 14, 16, 18 and 20-inch bar lengths, covering all uses of these chainsaws.
Designed to partner these new Light 04 chainsaw bars, are the new 0.325” Rapid saw chains, which help to deliver a faster cutting performance. This improvement comes from a change in chain gauge from 1.6mm to 1.3mm, whilst the kerf, or the cutter tooth width, comes down from 7.7mm to 6.8mm, meaning less timber is removed in the cut. This improves cutting performance by up to 20% compared to the previous version of the 0.325” RS chains.
🔶 STIHL MS 261 C-M 🔶
The STIHL MS 261 C-M chainsaw now comes with the RS Pro saw chain which is designed for high-performance cross cutting and bore cuts, as well as low vibration. This chainsaw is the perfect tool for small to medium tree maintenance work.
🔶 STIHL MS 271 🔶
The STIHL MS 271 petrol chainsaw comes with the RM Pro 3 saw chain, which is a high performance and robust saw chain, more suited to agricultural applications. This chainsaw is the perfect option for the demanding farmer, gardener or landscaper.
Whilst these new chainsaw bar and chains come standard on the STIHL MS 261 C-M and MS 271, they can also be retrofitted to older models of these chainsaws, as well as other models such as the MS 241 C-M, MS 251 and the MS 291.
