First start of the Stihl MS 500i the world's first electronicly controlled fuel injected chainsaw. This saw was new and never been started.

@@mastershefu147 That's to bad I give this saw a lot of crap when I first got it but the more I used it the more I liked it. Still it has one big problem I had to put some lube around the base of the airfillter because fine sawdust was getting past the airfillter and getting sucked right down the intake. But other then that it was a easy fix and the saw is light, very fuel efficient, and extremely powerful it was worth the money especially when your can sell the wood and get the saw for free after about 12 or 15 cords even less then that if you have some nice elm all i have is cottonwood i would buy it again.

This is a really excellent saw to get some forestry job done, I wish I could afford one of these but I got an MS 261 C-M, which is still overall a good saw and useful to get the job done, but man this 500i, incredibly worth it.

3:11 That cat is so chill it doesn't even care if someone is cranking up a chainsaw next to them. I had a cat like that once. You could vacuum the carpet next to it and it wouldn't get off the sofa.

Well, you got a like from me - despite the sandals and the drop-start and the chain-brake mistake - hey, we all gotta start somewhere! Tip - propper boots, hearing protector and start on the floor for safety. I've just bought one of these and have not yet put the damn thing together. Paid £937.50 ($1200) plus 20% UK purchase tax, so it had better be great! It will replace my old MS026-Super that I've had for about 30 years. It still works great but I just wanted something funkier!

When the saw is brand new you have to leave it runnig for ar least 15 minutes you dont want to rev the motor and is best to hang it from something with a rope so that the vibration doesnt harm it the way it would if you left it running on the ground all that time.thats how you break it in

It’s not a carbureted saw, you don’t need to do that.
@imanolberecibar3 жыл бұрын
@@paulspomer16 warming up is not because of the carburetor or fuel injection, is because the engine internal parts need to heat up and expand gradually before applying load to the engine, if not you can get something called "cold seizure" where the piston and rings expand faster than the cylinder and they get scored, but doing some small revs up like seen in the video shouldn't cause any issue
@paulspomer163 жыл бұрын
@@imanolberecibar Yea I know what a cold seizure is, but revving it without putting load on it or actually cutting won’t do any harm.
@stephen27382 жыл бұрын
@@paulspomer16 yes it will
@paulspomer162 жыл бұрын
@@stephen2738 It won’t because putting a load on it is what causes the piston to expand faster than the cylinder because it heats up faster.

if its fuel injected, then why do you still need to prime it?

Because the fuel is lower then the engine and has no electric fuel pump that bulb acts like a fuel pump once its primed then it runs on its own Stihl has a animation here on KZfaq on how it works I believe it's called "What drives the Stihl MS 500i".

HOW DO U LIKE IT SO FAR AFTER 2 YEARS??
@miniatures1 Жыл бұрын
So far I like it it has plenty of power to get through any type of wood I sometimes even half throttle it has so much power in smaller logs if your looking at buying one you won't be disappointed. It is very expensive though if you cut a lot of fire wood per Year then I would definitely consider it or you could get a ms 461 or ms 462 for 400 to 500 dollars less and it's pretty much the same amount of power also the ms 461 is carbureted and the ms 462 is Mtronic AKA automatically compensating carburetor. But if you don't cut a lot of wood or you cut a lot of smaller logs then the 500i is to much saw honestly you could get a ms 391 or ms 362 and pay way less for a still great saw hope that helps thanks for commenting.

Only issues I have ran across in carb saws are extreme cold temperatures in single digits and elevation. Had a hard time starting my 044 magnum when it was 2 degrees outside. And once when I was up past 6,000 feet in elevation. Other than that no issues.
