thanks I got back the trimmer...it turned out to be a bad diaphragm in the carb. 2 weeks later I got a similar issue, and it turned it to be the sparkplug. I bought the unit last year (I have a 2 year warranty) and my shop charged me $100 for the repairs...

thanks so much for posting this video. I can't believe that I have owned my FS100 for 7 years and never realised it was a 4 stroke!! adjusted the valves just now and it starts easier than ever.

pour it out....add gas;;;;press primer bulb to flush carb.....drain tank one more time and add fresh 50 : 1 mix

sounds like either a camshaft lobe issue or a fuel restriction (pluged carb or filter)

Thanks for the video. I wish I could see the arrow and bolt that need to line up a little better, but I think I'll be able to figure it out when I open mine up. Is that also the position it should be at when using Stihl decarbonizing fluid?

I will hold of as long as I can till I have to buy a 4 stroke. No problem w 4 strokes just is I have to hold it can't beat the power to wait ratio. It's only a matter of time they will be band though.

thanks for an insightful video. I have a problem with my strimmer. It stalls when I open and keep open the throttle to full. I have to keep "tickling" the throttle to keep the machine running. I have an FS100R 4 Mix. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I have a fs90r that's relatively hard to start when warm and has a not so good idle. Would those be a symptoms of valve adjustment?

How to adjust the valves on a FS 94? Or HL94? I cant gind anything on that. And taking off the cover, there's just the spark plug on top, no valve cover. Totally different engine.

we have Stihl fs130 weed Wacker and it has a tough time startering and when it does it doesn't run well at all. I'm thinking this is a valve issue cause when it warms up it is good.

hey i got a question what carbs are used in the km110 and the 130r i need to get a carb for one it blew the welcth plugs. i got left out and got water in the carb and froze i think is what happened but the carb got lost

Does a Echo GT trimmer have that compression release part that makes it feel like it has to much compression? I have one that has that issue as well some other tools that have different issues which cause alarm when running or make it not operate well enough to make the tool count for anything but parts and I haven't a clue what to do about it since shop time is so expensive and many aren't worth cost of diagnosing and any repair that could come no matter what it is. E4 Swisher/Shindaiwa line trimmer. Told by mechanic that intake valve stuck, not worth cost of him repairing. Is it possible to do it myself without any special tools, or too complicated/not worth the hassle? Thanks.

I just bought an used Stihl fs90r trimmer with a crack primer bulb and the last owner said he couldn't get it to start even when the primer bulb was good. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Just subbed Jeremy. I just bought a new FS 100 RX Friday. I just assumed it was a 2 stroke since you mix the fuel. It sure is sweet running. IYO did I make a mistake by not getting a two stroke? The four stroke is full of torque but I see some guys say you can't do delicate trimming as well as with a two cycle. You thoughts please.

You can still do delicate trimming with the 4mix it’s just a bit harder that’s all. I run a 100 as my main trimmer to do my landscaping and also have a old 100 at my full time cemetery maintenance job. I trim in between and around artificial and real potted and planted flowers, flags etc. without needing to move too much. Yes feathering a two stroke trimmer is a bit easier than on a 4 mix, but it can be done. If you take the time and play with the trigger a bit you can find where the low and medium throttle speed are. The only thing I kinda don’t like about Stihl s 4 mixes are that there’s 2 valves under the engine cover that u or a dealer need to be checked at least once annually to make sure it’s running and idling properly. But other than that I like the extra and torque for the thicker stubborn stuff and if I need slower delicate speed and could do that too. I have tried a Stihl 94r and for whatever reason got one in at work this past year and I to be honest I kinda don’t like and or care for it. They say it’s 25cc which isn’t bad, but it just feels to me to be too underpowered for bi weekly residential and fully commercial groundskeeping work.

What causes the air filter to become gas wet as to reduce the rpm's on a Stihl weed trimmer

Check your tank vent. If it has a rubber hose going from the tank to the air filter housing the hose should only allow air into the tank, but not out of it. The rubber hose has a check valve built in to it to do that. If the check valve is bad fuel can get into the air filter. Not an expert here, just what I've found out after working on a 4 mix for a friend. Might be different on a 2 cycle though.

why should i do a new carb. i can rebuild them ive been in mine twice my diaphragms are shot and primer is junk from the ethanol. its swelled up like a balloon. i think its more of the primer being soft is my problem wont hold its shape under hi carb demands and causes the diaphragm chamber to run short its a hi speed jet problem carb wont keep up so either pump, primer and, adjusted the metering level and the carbs like new. new carb got better plastics? these trimmers work! best trimmer

Help MEEE! whats the seal called the one between the gauge head and the gauge cap (stops it from leaking) mines corroded needs a new one, can i use a rubber/glue substance or will it go wrong with heat from the engine. its a stihl fs 65-4 4 stroke

Hi I have a 2016 km130r which often stalls on idle when warm. Then it’s a nightmare to try and start again. I have replaced the air filter & have noticed small amounts of fuel is leaking & soaking into the air filter. When I remove the air filter or dry up the fuel around it it starts fine. Any idea what’s causing this please. Thanks

mine runs perfect but it's very easy to pull should I check the valve's ? had it about 5 years zero issues but I've never checked valve's in it.

Being TOO easy to pull is usually the sign of a compression problem. Check that the spark plug isn't loose. If not, it may indicate a head gasket problem, or worn piston rings. If this were the case, however, it shouldn't run as well as you say. Small engines that usually require a valve adjustment become difficult to pull over.

I totally forgot about adjusting the valves I forget my backpack is a 4 stroke when I run it on mix gas. It runs like absolute garbage I've replaced everything and totally forgot it's probably the valves. I haven't adjusted them in 10 years....

Hey there, could you address the needed or appropriate valve position for the adjustments to be made? I understand it’s TDC but is that between the intake and exhaust cycling or tdc just after the exhaust opens and right before the intake opens? So cycling the engine, intake opens then we see tdc then exhaust opens and then we see tdc right before the intake opens again... make sense? I find that there is more slack in between the intake opening and the exhaust opening vs measuring the lash right after the exhaust opens....I can never remember which position the adj. needs to be made. I’m having some missing and rough running WO throttle. I can’t figure out if it’s electric or if there is carbon affecting the seat....when it happens I can’t get it to pick up with jetting...almost acts like the coil is going but it’s hard to diagnose and replicate. Thanks for the help/channel

To mowermedic1: I have a Stilh FS45. It seems that it has to much compression. Can the valves loosen by themselves or does someone have to mess with them for that to happen? I took the spark plug out and it turned over freely. However, with it in, it was hard to pull. What do you thing?
