@danysniper22 the small wire on the coil connects to the ON OFF switch, all the switch does is practically ground that wire to the body of the saw to cut off spark

few weeks agoit makes me confused why you guys can test spark on hand and when I do that no matter what I use to isolate spark plug with my hand I STILL GOT TEASED ground it thank you .

those stihl saws are great to work on I have 2 of them.

Question about throttle linkage.... Is it just supposed to snap into the trigger slot? (Tool was brought in disassembled)

Why not use aftermarket ignition at 1/3 the price?

When you have an intermittent problem, it must be hard to make the diagnosis. Did you find no spark, and then infer it was a bad module? Are there more steps to make that diagnosis? How do these modules fail?

Hey DonnyBoy can you please do a video of you taking apart the saw and rebuilding for us to have a model of how it should look like. My TS420 worked however it no longer works

@spelunkerd because there is no points and just the ignition module it was the only solution to that problem

remember as well to connect the running ground wire to the peg in front of the short stud on the handle assembly. this is a major reason that people complain their saw won't shut down and have to stop it on the choke. it looks obvious that this should be the correct ground location, but it isn't.

I have a stihl 400 and I replaced the ignition coil. I haven't don't a compression test but I don't think I'm getting fuel to it. How does the engine get fuel? Like a vacuum hose? Thanks in advance

Oh by the way I got a old right hand start mcculloch mac 10 10 auto with few problems when it's cold I can lift it up with starter handle but when it's hot it can barely holds there why it accelerat when it 's flip aside ? does broken muffler affect idle ? thank you

Hi First of all thank for all your useful video I installed new carburetor on my Stihl Ts420 today it is start if hold the switch when i release the switch it is runing for a few second then turning off I tried so many time still doing the same I did play with carburetor screws I'm not sure if I did turn screw the right way or wrong way it is still the same if you can please help me with this problem

Donyboy73, I hava a Stihl TS 420 and just replaced the pull rope (not sure what's its given name), but it still does not start. The flywheel seems to struggle on making a complete turn. Seems to turn, but mid way it stops as if something is preventing it from completing a full turn. What may be the issue?

I got a TS350 super cutoff saw. Just wondering maybe you can help me. It seems to run fine , then I start cutting and it boggs down then quits like it either starving for air or fuel I cleaned all the air filters stills does the same thing, Do you think it is the carb and if so is there a rebuild kit for this

The engine is rev limited to restrict spindle speed and this is done by the ignition module

Hey Don great video I replaced twice with aftermarket coils and still got no spark even disconnected grounding wire still nada spark have you ever seen magnets in coil weaken to cause the no spark? They are strong enuff to pull coil through the bussines card gapper.

Hi donyboy73. For most of my trimmers, saws, etc. I use Trufuel 40:1 ratio. Would that type of fuel work on a 2 cycle engine that has a 40:1 fuel/oil ratio? Thanks.

Hi, Donny. DO you have a fuel line diagram for the TS420? I have one on which I have rebuilt the piston and cylinder assembly, replaced the carburetor and the fuel lines,, but it still won't hold an idle or maintain the speed without running out of fuel unless I keep pressing the primer bulb. Any ideas? Thanks. :)

My ts400 had no spark I've changed everything but the magneto and still no spark? Ngk plugs x2 the module I bought was off eBay think it's a Chinese special I've disconnected kill switches etc but is there something I've missed

gaping is easy, if you don't have the correct thickness, you can always fold a business card and squeeze it in you vice then dial it with a caliper and so on ... don, is that a common disease or age related? I know these machines are much more robust than chainsaws for example. wouldn't be surprised if the module was actually exhausted in and out :)

Ahh here my question : The mix is 50.1 50 parts gas to 1 part motor oil Please Dony, I don't have much schooling, I work best with machines and my hands. What does 50.1 mean? 1 Litre gas + 1 litre motor nawww that doesn't seem right Lets say I have a 10 Gallon gas tank ( the red one ) how much motor oil. 10 Gallon Gas add how much Motor Oil?
