Hey Fellas, Still Austin Master Blender Nancy Fraley here. Absolutely loved your review of the two Artists and the Blue Corn BiB, and I appreciate your honesty too. I really wish you all had been able to taste the regular proof and cask strength Artist rye whiskey against the recently released Still Austin Bottled in Bond Rye Whiskey, which of course is 4+ years old. That would be a really fun review for you to see what an extra 2 years of maturation in TX can achieve. Cheers, and again, many thanks for your honesty and transparency! N.

Nancy…since the recent 4th BiB drop, I have mostly been planning when to get down to grab a bottle…after the mania of SXSW passes. So far the first three BiBs have just been excellent. I was mostly amazed from the release of the Red Corn (the Blue Corn backed this up) at the foresight and courage to lay down two entirely new mash bills four years back…I think before bottle one of The Musician was sold…crazy!

I've not liked many whiskies I've tried from Texas, and I'm from Texas... but Still Austin... I've not had anything from them that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. They are killing it. Similarly... different state, but I'd love to see what you guys think about Hard Truth and any of their special releases. Another distillery that is just killing it with every release of theirs I try.

I’m from Texas…Still Austin and Ironroot are the only 2 Texas whiskeys I like. Not the typical Texas whiskey….cant wait for the bottled in bond rye is in stores

As someone who has relocated to Texas - Still Austin is the best I've found. Really like the Cask Strength bourbon

Gotta say…for me…the biggest difference between SA and their Texas peers is the 50 foot column still (named Nancy for your top commenter) vs everyone else’s pot stills. Crazy that the first reviews that I have ever seen date back to early 2021.

…and I tend to like the slow-water-reduced Musician more than the Cask Strength…and I generally like proof.

Personally, I felt like the Blue Corn and the Red Corn were a little grain forward for me. And that was literally the point. Now the ryes are great. I had a single barrel rye recently that was PHENOMENAL. So dense. I am going on a pick there this month for a rye and have done a bourbon pick there. Y’all get the million other bourbons, but at least we in Texas get Still Austin!

love Still Austin stuff. I have to drive through my state across another state to get to a Total Wine that carries them so I always load up. Wish the Rye CS and the special releases were available The Bourbon CS is my favorite. Liked the Rye when I tried it on vacation. Never found a Rye CS but gotta think that it is fantastic

Honestly I’ve been thinking about the same thing in regards to Redwood Empire and Still Austin putting out good product at very reasonable prices. Only have the cask strength bourbon so far from Still Austin but it’s so tasty that I want more. What I consider the flagship for Redwood (Pipe Dream, Emerald Giant, and Lost Monarch) were a great addition to my home selection.

Looking to get some off of seelbach these don’t come to Ohio at least in NE Ohio. I want to try both the red and blue corn bib bottles. I am a huge rye drinker so I’ll go with the cask strength also. Great review and I’m also looking for Redwood bib and cask bottles apparently I can order them from the distillery which is nice. Enjoy!!
