This week at Starbase, as construction continues on the new office building, parking garage and Starfactory expansion, several systems receive attention at the launch site, including the orbital launch mount, chopsticks, and booster quick disconnect. Meanwhile, at the Massey Outpost, things are starting to come together for the new ship testing infrastructure, and over at Cape Canaveral, we're treated to a trio of Starlink launches.
Thanks for watching this week's LabPadre Update!

These weekly updates are such a treat. Huge thanks to LabPadre. Compared to the rapid entrepreneurial development of SpaceX, other aerospace companies look like they're moving backwards. I can't wait for the fourth Starship test flight! Soon, I'll be riding my little adventure motorcycle to Boca Chica to camp on the beach and watch a Starship liftoff. It's great to live in the future.

Terrific roundup of all the base's activities. Just a whimsical thought, but would the Droneships be capable of landing the Starship's Booster as a pre cursor to being caught in the Chopsticks? Cheers and "thanks for all the fish" 🤓

"OLIT", "OLM", "OTF"... Why? We're coming up on 3 years since the conclusion of the sub-orbital flight campaign with SN-15. It's all orbital now, and I think it's time to retire the distinction.

Emergency!!! THE ONLY SOTUTION! Baffles will not work to prevent the fuel slushing problem, because the tanks of the starship system are too large. That is the only reason why the starship engines have been exploding every time. The solution: The tanks of Starship and Superheavy need 2 disk valves, expanding the diameter of each tank. One of the disks, the one on top, rotates above the contiguous disk to close the overlaping holes on the surface of the disks; to reduce the Size of the tank by dividing it, before any rotation or acceleration of the rocket. This will prevent slushings and protect the plumbing, if located 10% above the bottom section of each tank. Large telescopic pistons can be attached below the bottom of disk valves to control the fuel pressure as the piston expands into the fuel tank. I have built a model that works perfectly. The second disk valve can be located 10% below the front of the tank, to also protect the front of the tanks from the slushing forces. The gridfins are too flat and too small to be effective enough and will not be able to control the booster. Why is Elon not using four pins instead of three to secure each heat shield tyle? Four anchor points provide far more stability to secure a tyle, not three. Also, each type should be constructed with the bottom half of the brick consisting of an interwoven latice of steal mixed into the silicon, to provide a foundation of strength and durability to each tyle. What is more important than securing the heat shield by providing the maximum stability and strength to each tyle? The interwoven steal mesh lattice mixed into the bottom half of the bricks, and the four anchor points would eliminate the problems of tyles falling off the ship every time there is an engine ignition event. Please get this message to Elon. Thank you. Also, Spacex needs 3 actuators to move the payload bay doors correctly, not two. They have only two now, one at each end of the payload bay. They need one at the center position. Three will guarantee that there will always be enough support to open and close the doors, even if one of the three fails. I know the spacex engineers can see these problems. It is like ignoring the elephant in the room. The solutions should be a no-brainer. Musk needs to hire people who can be trusted and who will not continue accepting bribes from Jeff Bozo to sabotage and cause unnecessary delays to the Spacex Statship program.

when they get rocket to work 100%, you think Elon will change booster form stainless steel, to a carbon hull like falcon 9. would save a massive amount of weight. expensive yes, but if its all reuseable would pay for its self over time

Changing the material this late in the game would be catastrophic to all the progress they've made with steel. They'd be back to square one.

He started out thinking carbon, remember? The move to stainless is something that is now being emulated in the industry….starting with companies in China. - Dave Huntsman

If they want to build 1000s of the vehicle though stainless is just easier to produce plus more cost effective

I have been wondering if they could change the grid fins to carbon fiber or titanium once they get the catch on a regular basis. Those grid fins look like they are really heavy.
@akkkbn
@akkkbn 2 ай бұрын
@@petercozzaglio6070 carbon fiber simply isn't enough to handle the forces the fins have to deal with, and titanium is both expensive and very difficult to work with. Steel seems to be the answer to both problems, though who knows what SpaceX will come up with next.
