Does this 4 year old legend of a CPU still hold up in modern times? Let's find out! The Ryzen 5 5600X has been one of the most used CPUs for gaming builds across the world, but is it still worth buying today?
I will be making another video soon comparing the 5600X to the 5700X3D to see if 3D V-cache makes a big difference!

I just recently bought a brand new 5600 system. Got it for a bargain and loving it so far.

I paired up a 5600 with a 7900 GRE. Overclocked it to a flat 4.4ghz because my motherboard is dodgy and seems to screw up PBO. I game on a 4k tv, if I notice any bottlenecking I'll just increasse the graphics. Pretty happy with it.

Not long ago I started upgrading my old PCs. Coming from an i7 2600K. I went to AM4. I was not updated on current hardware and stuff. I ended up building 3 new PCs based on AM4. One with 5700X3D, 64GB DDR4 3600 RAM, B550 mobo and RX 7800 XT, secondary PC based on 5600x, 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, B550 mobo and RTX 4060 and third PC with a 5500GT, 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, A520 mobo and my old GTX 1070. All with M.2 drives and stuff. It all started with me getting a B550 motherboard, 5600x and 16GB DDR4 for free because I ordered the wrong parts for our office PC. I must say that AM4 is still awesome. 5600x is more than enough for my RTX 4060, and it can easily go with a bit higher end GPUs. 5700X3D is perfect for my RX 7800 XT. For my third PC I can easily sell my old GTX 1070 and just use the APU from the R5 5500GT, as this machine will be used for media center or just general stuff. All in all I agree with you, no need to go AM5 yet. 5700X3D can easily handle an RTX 4090 without bottlenecking it, and I would say the 5600x can handle RX 7800 XT/RTX 4070 Super without being too much of a bottleneck, and maybe even higher end cards. AM4 is still alot cheaper VS going AM5 or Intel. Looking forward to your 5700X3D video :)

Thank you man! Yeah, AM4 is (in my opinion) the best socket in modern times! It's the best value and offers an insane upgrade path, from a Ryzen 5 1600 to a 5800X3D, all on the same mobo. My 5700X3D just came in and I'm working on a video and some benchmarks!

I'm still rocking a 1700/B350 and RX 580 8GB. Got a 5600 from AliE for $82, $90 with tax and Assassin King 120 SE but haven't installed it yet. Waiting for Wukong to drop and see what GPU is required. I don't mind a 6700XT off eBay for $250 and I don't game much. Just want to support Asians.

I got this cpu months ago (didn't know about r5 7500f), so I was wondering if going full am4 now that I have it or sell it and get the 7500f (am5 ram and mobos still expensive).
@savageazn69
@savageazn69 5 күн бұрын
At this point, your best bet is to get a 5700X3D. The cost of going to AM5, DDR5 Ram and other components is too expensive. If you can sell the 5600X and get a 5700X3D, that would be your best bet!

I have a 5600X3D/6700XT build. It gets slightly better results in synthetic benchmarks and gaming than yours. I am using 4x8 CL 16 3200MHz RAM. The dual rank 4x8 RAM might be getting me the slightly higher CPU scores. Yours should be beating mine in Time Spy, you have the faster clocks. The 5700X3D should fix that up.
@savageazn69
@savageazn69 5 күн бұрын
You're absolutely right, it's possible. I'm also using 4 x 8GB CL16 3600MHz! I don't really know why the scores are a little lower, I haven't been able to get it higher than this for some reason.

100%. Not just for the capacity but for dual channel memory. Are you running DDR4 or DDR5? If it's DDR4 ram is so cheap now that it's entirely worth it without even thinking about it!

Will you be using the 6700xt for the 5700x3d run? I'd venture to say you won't get (much) better results because the 5600x handles the 6700xt just fine. In other words the 6700xt is the bottleneck not the 5600x (or 5700x3d). BTW I use (almost) the same combo 5600 (non x) and the 6700xt. Very pleased with it but the 5600 can drive much more powerful cards without bottlenecks, it is a nasty little chip!
@savageazn69
@savageazn69 4 күн бұрын
Yeah I'll be using the 6700XT, for the games that I play they're much more CPU dependent and notice that the 5600X bottlenecks the 6700XT in tarkov, war thunder and cs2. But yeah, it's a potent little chip!
@WalterWolf000
@WalterWolf000 4 күн бұрын
@@savageazn69 Yeah, competitive shooters and unoptimized games are use case scenarios for a more potent CPU like the 5700x3d to brute force FPS however in "normal" cases the 5700x3d is largely pointless on the 6700xt.You'd probably get better 1% lows but that's about it.
