Use to live near the Silverstone circuit from 2001 to 2013 and managed to get into several Grand Prix events during those years..i worked for a few years in Brackley next door to the Mercedes Head office. But now i simply cant afford the Price of a weekend ticket to the event or all the other costs that accompaugne a trip to Silverstone now.Its a sgame but i guess they can justify their prices as they still sell out to hugh crowds iver the entirety of the event. I think they had almost half a million in attendance over the 4 days Thursday ro Sunday inc so there is obviously still loads of people who are happy to and can justify their expenditure. For myself i simply cant do that and then soend money on other events i want ro see so i pick and choose. Glad though you had a great time despite this appalling unseasonal weather we are all having in the UK

Probably breaking up the top soils a bit so when they lay the turf, it bonds better - the rain will pack it down a bit too much... That's my guess - Do you know why they've taken the clear cladding off the front section of the roof?

Have you seen the Liverpool video of the laying of the whole new pitch at St Helens fo our Womens team? The complete 5 weeks of work in one video. Really interesting and completely different to the laying of the last Anfield "grass" !

The original builders should be in prison they did that bad of a job, but I don't understand people giving out about the current lot. They're just fixing all the mistakes, they can't help how many there are.

Most of them are the same ones! Loads didn't work for Buckingham directly they were subcontracted in to do jobs like the cladding, brickwork, steelwork etc. Once the new firm took over the job they got the same ones back.

Could be sand and stone to level out before grass goes down . Dont know much about grass just pay to have it mowed every two weeks.

It'll be sports sand, which all top-level sports pitches are laid on. They'll be working on the grading at the moment before a final level and then the turfs will be laid

I think the system is designed to last 10 years, but not the grass - here's the press release from 2022 (which suggests that the system is designed to replace the grass as necessary each year) :- "Each year this gives us the ability to evaluate the playing surface and make any adjustments if needed after the close-season period to ensure the best possible playing surface. “The fact that we can start to grow the turf in March at the turf farm will give us the assurance that we are in the best possible position to start the season with a strong, healthy pitch each year in a short timeframe.”

I heard the club made over a million pounds from the 5 concerts this summer at Anfield ( 3 Taylor Swift shows and 2 Pink Shows) the new pitch has a estimated cost of about £300k so the concerts have been useful and a profit return for the club
