I'm an advanced guitarist who played in various rock and metal bands in my earlier years. I've always had my guitars setup to Eb. It's so much easier to bend notes for solos and of course the vocalist likes not having to sing so high as well...lol.Anyway, Steve, I always enjoy your video tutorials! Thanks! Steve! Oh yeah, when you started playing Werewolves of London it almost sounded like Bad Company "Feel like Making Love" which is an excellent song!

Finally. Someone taking the time to tell me how to make the chords that go along with the tutorial. And explains why I’m having so much trouble learning any chords. I thought people were giving me different ways to play the same chords. I need to learn the easy ways! Thank you for sharing this with us!

Steve ,you are a real good teacher. I started playing guitar in 1968, I was 9. I tripped across your site one day and watched. I still look you up couple times a week to see what your class is doing. I wish when I was a kid, (obviously no computer) I could have taken lessons from the likes of you. You seem patient and happy , that makes all the difference in the world.Keep up the great work. Today's youth needs to have hobbies such as music, you make look fun , and that is inviting.

Steve, this is awesome. I am 62. Always wanted to learn guitar just for pleasure, but too many interests leaving little time. This lesson is perfect for me. I know these chords, and now see how I can make them work for me. I think this will open my guitar world and help me progress and having fun doing it. I had already learned how to play Poisons Every Rose has its Thorn. Basically the some chords. Thank you so much! Bob P

I really like your method of teaching. I fixen to start taking entry level lessons, as soon as my new guitar comes in. I have been looking around for an online teacher. You are the one I like the best. Like you said, make it fun and you do. Your teaching methods makes it FUN. The way you teach someone a few cords, then say what songs you can play by learning those cords and touch on how to play a few songs with those cords you have just learned. I love that. That way someone can start learning a few songs while they are leaning the cords. That's good practice too, "Awesome". Takes away the boring part of just learning the cords. I will be signing up with you in a few days. Thanks for sharing these free videos with us, showing your style of teaching. It was a big help to me on finding myself who's going to be my instructor. I'm really looking forward to getting started with you. Thanks Again!!..

Steve. This is excellent advice. When I started taking lessons, my guitar teacher would do similar things. If he wanted to teach me a chord or two, he would record it using a drum track. I would practice all week until I could do the changes on time. It was a real fun way of learning, and kept me interested. Thanks for all you do. I appreciate it🙂

I remember when I watched this video. All I could play was a g and a cadd9 and a basic strumming pattern. When I watched it I was so happy I finally had the strength for a d chord. I come back to watch this and almost cry remembering the echoes of the g and cadd9 ring out through the house.

for those looking for another easy song with these chords, "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" is just G and Cadd9 for the verses and the chorus slips in the D and em chords (he never went over em but it is a simple chord)

I used to have alot of anger issues growing up as a child i thought nothing would make me feel happy but some nice lady sold me a cheap montana guitar. And i am still learing but i never realized untill i was a adult learing to play the beautiful instrument. And learing chords making beautiful sounds. How much my anger has gone away. Guitar is my escape i love learing every day i love hearing my wife and son tapping there feet when i play. I just love guitar it by far has been my best Thearpy. It always will be.

Keep going mate don't give up I've been playing for over 30 years I had an advantage because my dad is a guitar teacher but without practice I never would have got it . My advice when learning a new song play it a 1000 times when you think you got it play it a 1000 more times just don't give up took me 3 months to learn how to play neon by John mayer correctly

Hardest thing for me was to keep moving my strumming hand to the tempo and not strum. But then guitar felt more like a chore, so I don’t do that now, I just keep tempo with the drum beat.

Which means, instead of teaching a set strumming pattern, Steve shows you how to find the rhythm of the song and play it in a way that feels natural to you. In that video, Steve will talk more about organic strumming. with half step down/Eb tuning I start with an open B tuning for it to match the sound of "swing life away" by rise against and tune other strings accordingly. Otherwise using a standard tuning and tuner, the way to tune by ear is match the 5th fret to the next string except the G string its the 4th fret to the B Dropping to Drop D on standard is 7th on the e to match the A string 6th would be a half step down from here I think its a lot easier to play, looser strings, longetivity too, and throw a capo on your first fret for standard tuning, or using bar chords as a B minor chord would instead be a A#m, the B bar chord would be instead played like a C, on the 3rd fret without a capo substituting other chords like the E major for a B major fingering on the 8th/10th frets or by barring a standard tuning's F chord. Eb tuning would mean the 1st fret is an E major bar chord or minor if ur removing the 1st on the D string
