Valentina Sandu I remember when they were all at Sting’s estate in France filming the All This Time performance when 9/11 happened. The gathering they respectfully had the minute the news hit the world about what happened. Cheb was there to perform with them but the option to leave and safely return home before the inevitable outrage directed at anyone of Middle Eastern heritage is what he rightfully chose to do. I’m sorry he was not there. Sting began with Fragile and after a moment of silence, continued with what turned out to be a stunning performance. One of my all time favorites!

Cheb Mami is more than a voice he is his own instrument. When something comes from the heart it sounds like this, without words just his own voice was able to take this song to another level. Amazing this song will never get old because there is nothing like it out there .

I return here every week since I've heard this masterpiece since back in 2008 or 09 I was a pure Metal Head you could say and A friend of mine had introduced me to this song and Sting and at first I hesitated since I was and have always been very tasteful and peculiar about the music I hear to but then the Song started and I've been hooked to this ever since thanks to him for this we aren't in touch now oh man how time changes and time flies hope he is doing well in life. But Desert Rose still plays on my playlist everytime I drive my car to somewhere. And everytime I mean every single time it gives me the "FEELS" Desert Rose is literal magic converted into a song. Love you Sting Love you Forever Thank you for your music.

When I was in Southern Spain our radio would tune in Arabic stations from Northern Africa. I love the way it sounds even if I don’t understand one word. The voice of this man is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.
