jB4 is a great start, and an extremely valuable tool for logging what the ECU is doing and monitoring boost levels. Most of the big guys are running it map 0 and doing ECU swaps.

Great vid. I also got the JB4 for my 2021 GT2 but I bought the kit that came with the plugs, cold air intakes, and oil catch can. I filled up with 110 octane racing gas and wow what a difference. Cat back muffler delete for the sound and maybe a few HP. Going to the drag strip tomorrow to see what it can do in the 1/4 mile. Proud to be a Stinger owner!

In fairness, you're glossing over the many other benefits of an ECU tune in terms of boost management, ignition timing, fuel correction, etc. There have been several people I know who have gone from a JB4 to a custom tune and been absolutely shocked at the performance difference, even if peak numbers didn't change that much. Peak power isn't as important as area under the torque curve.
@JulianWithAnX
@JulianWithAnX 3 жыл бұрын
You’re 100% right on the ecu side of things they definitely do provide better control of the car, the only reason i leaned towards jb4 is due to the lower chance of it being detected in case i need warranty work, i think a lot of people who bought the car probably took the warranty into consideration. But yes if warranty is no concern then ecu is usually better then a piggyback.

Brilliant thorough explanation. I've got a 2018 GTS (3.3 RWD) here in the UK and there isn't any following of community of the Stinger over here. Recently installed the catless full turbo back Fi exhaust system and will be looking to upgrade the intakes, Spark plugs and add an oil catch can. Holding back on the Fmic and Bov's for now as I don't want to break the bank. when all the upgrades are done I will need an ECU tune and I'm undecided whether to go for a JB4 piggy back device or get a custom dyno tune here in the UK where the Stinger is almost non-existent. Edit: I did get a quote from a dyno place, they said even with all of the upgrades they can do a stage 1 tune which will gain me about 40bhp for £595 ($820 USD) and an additional £150 for the pops and bangs which I do want to compliment the Fi exhaust.

The warranty thing you're kind of wrong on. Yes, you could avoid your warranty but in this country the burden is on the manufacturer or dealership to prove that whatever you did was the main cause of the issue. Don't quote me on the name and something like the Munson act which protects the consumer. Now of course they want to seem like you could void your warranty so they don't have to work on a thing now. Whether they could have you change it back to stock to do something that's a possibility. I'm not sure on the legalities of that like if there's some kind of update they have to do or some kind of change that they're doing because it was the wrong fluid they put in or whatever the issue is. Maybe that can have problems where now they need the car when it's in there stock. But it wouldn't be hard to even go against them on any of their basic claims. First off that car was built to easily handle 700 horsepower with how the engine was constructed. It was severely detuned in order to have confidence in the warranty lasting. Mine is a 10-year 125,000 bumper to bumper warranty, but again the burden would be on them to prove that you're changes specifically cause the issue now. If you don't know this act or know your rights than your screwed because you'll just take whatever they say but look it up now. This goes for America only. I don't know about Canada Australia anywhere else stingers are sold but in America we have that protection. There's actually a controller for the suspension made by the people who made disuspension for the car. I already know somebody answers. I asked the dealership. I just want to see what they understand and where they are. It helps me determine who I want working on my car. Because if they don't know certain information or they're lying, they're definitely not touching my car. Do you know of anyone that had to warranty ever voided? I don't know a single person personally . So again, do your own research. Don't just take my word for it. I am right. I know what I don't know. Now any mods you do you would always want to be able to have it go back to 100% stock so don't pierce wires always have the ability to go back to 100% stock. Cuz then you're actually altering things with most things that you do. You can say you're altering, but you're actually using what the computers capable of doing the car is capable of this. They have to detune for miles per gallon in most cases. And then you could easily use manufacturers that have special editions of cars that have more power. Well how they get that power so there's precedent set. Always look up legal definitions of words. Don't think you know what a word means. Look up what the definition is legally and then president set if there's any precedent. Like I had an issue with a car. They called on fire and they kept saying if it's due to electrical or mechanical breakdown it's not covered. Well that can mean something to you, but the legal definition of that basically says you would normally know about the issue and not do anything to stop it and continue to use the vehicle till catastrophic failure where they did not my claim originally. But once I found all that information out guess what. They reopen and gave me 33% more than the car was worth because I dared into the time again. When I'm going to the regulators next I should please deny me. I dare you. They didn't because they knew just go on KZfaq and see people that took their cars to get service done and didn't take any of their mods out. No issues

You're also glossing over the fact wardantys have been voided with a piggy back tune. For starters when a dealer sees swapped out spark plugs it's an indication a tune has been applied. 2nd, I've seen multiple posts of people having warranty work voided because the boost log shows a psi over stock. Just don't want someone to hear this video, buy a jb4 and assume it's gonna be all good

@ElioRose
@ElioRose 2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely "void" the warranty with a piggyback because it's very easy to read the history logs on an ECU when you take it to the dealer for some issue or even a routine check/oil change, since they give such a massive window of free maintenance (1yr) and coverage (10yrs). A lot of dealers also check this, with stingers and other sports cars, because they can easily deny years of warranty service claiming that you stepped out of bounds and caused the issue. This makes them more money on non-covered parts & labor and it's hard to prove that you didn't cause the issue since there's not really any way to compare it to what "would have" happened if you didn't mess with it. The bottom line is, if you want to mod the car then either don't pay extra for the warranty or wait for ten years for it to expire lol.

As far as warranties go in the United States for cars. You can make changes and do mods to your car now. If there's an issue, the burden will be on the car dealership or car manufacturer to prove that that was the sole reason for the failure. Don't quote me on the spelling but it's called the Munson act that we are protected by now the dealership may say that you voided your warning all this stuff but they can all lie but that is what we are protected by. All they did was open the exhaust up a bit is what one of the forums said.Also the KIA near me has been helping me with mods to stay under the warranty--but jb4 or anything like that voids it.If you goto the drag--and stay in the street tire division--there are a LOT of cars even a stock Stinger can beat. Most of the RWD cars are running almost a second slower because they can not put the traction down--so you will be even or beating American muscle cars--NA--RWD M cars etc.You can check my vids out--I raced 3 vehicles all with 500 or more HP--including a kenny bell lightning and a street mod and those had 600 HP plus.If I need anthing faster there is an exotic rental place literally down the road from me--but on street tires unless they were AWD AMGs or hellcats that burned the tires out--most cars were not breaking 12 seconds--which is what A Stinger should be able to do with light mods and AWD.

Nothing else you would have to do and let alone the burdens He's on the manufacturer and car dealership that you're alteration caused this problem and was the main cause of the problem I would think even if they would try to research all that their cost that would go involved in researching that would be way more than just dealing with whatever they have to deal with. But on jb4 page it says it has 5yr warranty too🤨

That warranty refers to the actual jb4 itself. The racechip warranty refers to the car. Meaning if any damage happens to the car bc of the race chip they will cover costs of repairs. Jb4 is not covering any repair costs lol.

So I have a question when you take it to the dealer for regular maintenance and remove the jb4, do you also remove the spark plugs. Cause I'm sure if they see the hks plugs with the smaller gap they'll know you're doing something.

To my knowledge, they can't do anything about the plugs. Unless they're the culprit that damaged the engine or something. Long as the Jb4 unit is disconnected and the codes cleared.

Like Gy said chances are spark plugs wont damage the engine as long as they were installed correctly. At worst one of them will blow and youll get misfires but that wont damage the engine permanently as long as you change then relatively quickly. Legally they cant void your warranty unless they can prove that theyre the reason the car failed. But no i don’t remove them when i go in for service, only the jb4.

It would be a little more helpful to other people watching if you clarified what parts weren’t correct.
