Stingless bees are also known as kelulut in Malaysia and Indonesia. They make up a large group os bees (about 500). They belong in the family Apidae, and are closely related to common honey bees, carpenter bees, orchid bees, and bumblebees. Meliponines have stingers, but they are highly reduced and cannot be used for defense, though these bees exhibit other defensive behaviors and mechanisms. We have around 29 species in Malaysia of which 17 species only reside in rainforest. This is due the availability of resources to build their hives.
Tetrigano Binghami is a medium sized stingless bee. The hive is made of hard resins which looks like stalactite and stalagmites. Their honey permeates a strong fragrant.
