Regarding the distance between the 2 boxes, binu made a fist action with the thumb propping out. In Kerala that's 1/2 feet and put 2 fist together you make a foot. This how they measure here.

Hi everyone....in malaysia u can purchased this kind of bees also...you can download on your phone at google playstore this apps.."mudah.my"..and type "lebah kelulut"..and you can see many of them sell in log or hive boxes at around RM400-RM650 ringgit Malaysia..which is around USD 100...just something to share. Tks

If the wooden box is so damaging, why is it used at all? What are the advantages (if any) to this kind of box?

I think he is changing over to the supering hive. I think you have a bit more room to play with when using the box. Mainly when you want to do splits.

In the video, at 1:36, you see a small hexagonal structure hanging near the fabric (left middle of screen). What is that? Is it an extension nest or something? I've noticed these kinds of structures in my own house, but thought they were wasp nests! Could you clarify?

Sure you move them at night and more than 300 m or they will go back to their hives and die. You can move them for days even if you block the entrance with a fine mesh, so air can still get in but bees can not get out.
