"Stinkfist" from Tool's "Ænima" album (1996). The last Tool cover did really well, so I thought I'd do more Tool covers although nobody really requested anything by them. Stinkfist is a classic, and it is somehow, not a long song. Now, the first thing that you have to do is tune your D string (the higher one) slightly higher. You will sound out of tune when your bass is perfectly in tune so make it just a little bit higher. So the song starts off quite easy, muting the open strings are really easy in this song because your hand automatically blocks those strings when you play a low note after the open notes. The intro, first verse and the chorus are repeated in the exact same way after the first chorus ends so that makes the song already a bit easier. After repeating everything twice we'll get to a part that also doesn't really change a lot. I don't know if this is a thing with Tool, but it seems like Justin Chancellor does not like throwing in some random fills. Anyway, I have looked at a lot of bass covers, lots of tabs and I have of course listened to the original track a thousand times, but the part after the breakdown bit was kinda hard to tab out. It may be slightly wrong, but it still sounds fine to me. It doesn't really help when every cover is played differently. After this we get another typical Tool riff and then we're back at the third chorus again.
