True.The praises for Vishy Anand stand out.Magnus calls him a legend,Grischuk calls him a genius..that's very high praise.His chess achievements are truly astounding and his chess talent is amazing..he is also a very kind and compassionate human being..this combination is a rarity!

Anand is a 5 time world champion, and he was the top player in the world when most of this generation of players were growing up. So they're bound to be in awe of him. On top of that, he's still competing at a high level at the age of 51.

+Chess With Richie Grischuk was doing best games of the event, each game time trouble, where everything can happen, each game a thriller. Never goes volunteerly into boring Berlin defense... I will be missing him in the next Grand Chess Tour.

@@AVOVATOR Grisch is going to be one of the people who help transform classical chess 12 draws in last championship into a hybrid with rapid or maybe FIscher Chess to keep these GMS from being able to prepare so endlessly and playing computer moves instead of human inspired moves....Grisch is big on this and he is very much like Bobby Fischer...

I love how Caruana and Giri are getting into own little rivalry -- I think they know each other quite well. And they all show reverence for Anand.

The players seem to like each other very much, though they don't seem to like Giri and Naka nearly as much. Giri is just young as Anand noted. He will grow out of shenanigans, but Nakamura is a bit of a jerk.

I like what Caruana has said about him, stood the most out for me. "Machine" "A Master of Preparation" "Tough" "Very Focused" "Academic" "Serious" "Good all-round player"

I think Grishuk nailed it with "academic." I like them both. Nakamura is a jerk. Giri is a bit of a prick, but Giri's personality is more impish. He's not so much a jerk as he is "young" as Anand pointed out.

+Squash Addict These two have a "history". I think it is good natured, but shots were fired a *long* time ago between these two. (Both have trained briefly with Kasparov, they had a secret all-night blitz match a few years ago, Nakamura has referred to him as Sauron and Carlsen has quipped back something to the effect "maybe you should watch fewer movies and try becoming a better player". BTW Carlsen has a ridiculously positive record against Nakamura.)

+cankercanison92 That "decent" player is now less than thirty points behind Carlsen in second place. Well, the "decent" player is actually ahead of him on the blitz ratings. Carlsen seems to have forgotten how to win a game.

WHen your kind of homely and about 5 ft tall its easy to get a complex which doesn't do much to explain why Giri is cocky and he looks like a brown millhouse from the simpsons and MLV doesnt.

I think he mistranslated from French. Unstable in English sounds like "emotionally unstable", but he meant "inconstant", meaning he sometimes plays really well and sometimes really bad.

Because Adam's style is like that of a spider in that he slowly spins his web. He has a slow, plodding style that is much more strategic than tactical. Kasparov described him as a python squeezing his opponent. I think that is a good description. Adams' games in his prime were very instructive to play over.
